It sounds like to me , there is one guy from SIDC who caused this and now disappeared, and I think what he said is bang out of order, good on Phil for being the voice from SIDC and not hiding.
And in my opinon SIDC is very good club....................

Morning sticky! Hope you've calmed down a bit now after a good nights rest Sounds like you had a great time yesterday, can't wait to see the pictures of your formation, planning for the nbo 07 already I see

Pity about the small-minded National clubs attitude though, but not surprising. As John Harding always has said, the SIDC stands for Southern Impreza Drivers Club, us northerners aint invited m8
See you thursday?

Guys,

I haven't replied openly yet as I first Pm'd Mickwrx to see if we could discuss this morning's incident.

Firstly can I apologise for anything that I have said or may have said, and I don't wish for the SIDC's name to become tarnished because of something that was said this morning.

As I explained to Mickwrx in my PM to him.

I have been to all 6 of the JAPS shows and know Andrew Greenwood the organisier well.

I have been in correspondance with Andrew for the past 6 months regarding this show and he has asked my advice on several aspects of the show. I even helped him with the date of the show!!

I suggested that all car clubs are treated seperately giving them their independance and that private entries are allocated their own spot. I also suggest like in many other years that clubs of the same make are evenly distributed amongs the show arena.

This hopefully would give clubs like WYIOC and Midlands scoobies better coverage of the show rather than being all mingled into one and having no identity. (You can either agree with me or disagree with me, but this is based on experience at many car shows)

What tipped me over the edge this morning was that not only was Andrew not around to greet anyone early doors but the guys that were on the ground didn't know where anyone should be located. I like many others were
unsure where we were actually supposed to be.

I eventually set up where told.

Unfortunately when the WYIOC turned up and headed straight for the SIDC and parked up, I flipped (I shouldn't have and I apologise), not at WYIOC but at the organsiers and the guy in the pick-up. It looked like they were going to park you right next to us. Ok, this may look childsh, but if you can see my point of view to seperate the different marques/clubs as agreed with Andrew. I'm sure you would'nt be happy people thinking your part of the SIDC? This was only while your cars were parked up next to the SIDC stand, that I had a bag on.

In my defence, I never said the WYIOC were an "unoffical" club or not a proper club or even "should be thrown off the field". These words never left my mouth. I may have said that "these Subaru's were not with the SIDC stand". I respect WYIOC as a club and always have.

So I apologise unreservedly, I don't claim to hold a monopoly, I was only trying to help all clubs stands have their own identity.

I had discussed briefly with Dave Riley the Midlands Scoobies (And SIDC Midlands Regional Organiser) owner and Andrew about their allocation. I told Andrew about their size and I guess their location was determinded by this.

Regarding another post above, yes Lancer-Evo and the MLR weren't particularly happy about being together. It defeated everything I had tried to sort out with Andrew Greenwood, looking at their stand both clubs looked liked they were one.

I was unaware that there was any ill-feeling I would have been happy to offer my apologies or talk it through.

Unfortunately I'm quite saddened with the comments regarding myself and my car, and feel quite threatened. Something that I have never experienced during my 8 years in the Subaru community. It has put a huge doubt over my future contribution to the Subaru community.

I have offerd my explanation, and apologised. I have also apologised to the SIDC committee.

Craig,

My I first say that I wasn't at todays event and as such am only aware of some of the facts. It seems that some confusion and misunderstanding has been misrepresented and thus become blown out of proportion. The feeling I get from the posts this evening is one of sarcasm, wit and incredulity. I certainly do not think you should feel threatened and I for one accept your humility and apology. Of course, if your statement is correct then you may simply have been misquoted, and as such we all know how things can spiral, and thus your apology would be unnecessary. Whatever the cause and effect, you have stepped forward and offered both explanation and regret at the events which is to be admired and I hope accepted, and therefore I would hope this affair can be allowed to fade into Scoobynet/WYIOC/SIDC folklore. I hope that in the future the SIDC and the WYIOC, as well as all other regional clubs for Subaru's and other marques, can forge strong friendships and work together to make future events bigger and better for the benefit of everyone.

Regards,

David.

It would have helped if you posted this earlier as the others may have been able to understand where you were coming from,
and there is no need to feel quite threatened as we are a non violent and peaceful club,

Craig

I did not repost your PM or pass it on as by its very nature it was private, and I take that very seriously. I did also ask you to post in the relevent thread

Were all grown ups, so why did you not just come over to us and talk ??

We did not just head over to you off our own back, we were instructed to set up at the side of the Type R club and that we did.
Given the distance between our two individual clubs It would of took a lot of imagination to mistake us for one in the same, more so given our formation.

I posted on you thread in events under your initial thread on the 23rd June

" see you down there guys "

Why did you not simply enter into discussion then regarding the event ? I tried as WYIOC representative to be friendly with that post and recieved no response.

The NBO was a clear example that clubs can actually park side by side yet still have individualty as is the rising sun ?

We all have the same enthusiasm of 'loving' the Subaru marque, and simply by strongly and passionately not wanting other Subaru clubs any where near you, you run the risk of only having the sidc interest at heart and not that of the car and its owners, is not that the most important thing.

Their are no positives to come from that choice other than you being segregated from Subaru clubs at other events, and the regional groups bieng shunned into thinking, you think, there cars bring your stand down. It comes across as a holy than though attitude, that will see the demise of the sidc.

This said Criag, we were actually not that close to your stand. we were about 80yards and another car club away,This must surely be enough for you to have your independance ? And I was instructed to set up there by the marshalls.
to be fair its not all about the stand, its about the people and the cars.

I for one would of been happy to be at the side of you, we could of shared burgers and wow betide had a laugh, would that not be a great event, rather than how dare they park near us were the SIDC.

The marshall who came to see it obviously quoted you incorrectly, possibly because you had a bag on, and was obviously passionate about your wish not to have us near you, he took it as your pure dislike for our Club??

If you take the time to read this organisational thread you will see. I/We had the same fears as you, and that none WYIOC members would park on our stand, that we put all the hard work into organise. this I can understand, but to shun and segregate other well organised clubs I cant.

I appreciate your post here Craig sincerely I do, Thank you

Hi Mick,

Thanks for your detailed reply.

If I may answer a few of your thoughts, it may "bring a few things into perspective".

I think this is where the problem lies, I agree I flung my teddy out of the cot, this is all purly based on the "initial" park-up (which in this instance was brought on by the marshalls sending you over to me), way before you were ever parked up and set-up your club stand. If you can then relate this to the discussions I've had with Andrew you can hopefully see my side.
I never had a problem with WYIOC and their Stand location.

In the last 2 years the show has suffered from some poor layout organisation (If you've been before you can hopefully appreciate this), I offered my advice and suggested proper areas for clubs and a proper area for individuals.
As it could be seen today, they had properly marked out areas for Private cars. This in itself minimised the "confused look" of the show.
I am passionate about Subaru's just as much as the next man. I have never had a problem with other Subaru clubs. Testimant is previous years at Thoresby where I have opened my arms to everyone, organised it all myself with no quibbles.
The show needed to change to bring it into the 21st century. I tried to offer my assistance.

This has obviously been misinterperated that the SIDC did not want other clubs beside us. It was just another angle for the show to have.
If everyone would rather be together, then we can as a collective discuss this with the organsier's for next year. Personnally as a show I thought it was the best so far. Purely because everyone could tell each different club apart.

I genuinely didn't realise their was a problem, my problem was with the organisation not with WYIOC. I think the marshall who came over to you may have "stirred" things up a bit and told you things I never said.

Sorry, I've just organised 3 events in 3 weeks, I've been organsing these shows, sending out passes, answering 20-30 emails a night, doing show right up's and also going to work in between. Sometimes I miss, or try and go back to post's but unfortunately I genuinely missed yours.

NBO is slightly different, they are all Subaru Clubs. Rising Sun If I can recal you were probably the same distance away as today, I didn't have a problem then as I didn't have a problem today.

Agreed, I hope over the years I have put a lot of people and their cars first and foremost. Today was a bad hair day.

Was never my intention to segregate other subaru clubs. I was hoping to give you and the other clubs more identity, which I believe you got. Rather than someone ask "Are you a branch of SIDC". I have never or will never think that other car clubs cars will bring this club down. Please see the shows that the SIDC have attended over the last 4 years.

Repeating what I've said above, I had no problem. A marshall "stirring".

Probably p*ssed cause I said he didn't know what he was doing..LOL. I think I upset him.

My intentions were never to shun other like minded enthusiast clubs.

Now that things seem to have sibsided somewhat, may I take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to Mick for all the hard work that went into organising the stand, convoy, etc. for yesterday.

WELL DONE!

And to everyone that made the effort to get out of bed, turn up early and help with the erection, cooking, tea, stand layout, etc. then hung around long enough to do the whole thing in reverse at the end of the day.

Thank you all.

Just to gracefully accept your thanks mate, and add the stand formation was your baby quickly and professionalyl executed

And secondly to add this was indeed the best event(Show) I have ever attended, with the WYIOC so a huge thanks to all who attended.

It was indeed a superb day and made so much easier by everyone playing there part in erctus/dismantlus.

I think 5 of us ended up in the show and shine arena at the same time for one of the awards, yep the one where I took control of the mic and show ground tannoy system To be fair Dan got his few minutes of fame too

Your all amazing seriously, great day out, for us growed ups and kids too. I wont name check everyone who came and made it what it was, but your all beautiful people and its been emotional

Pics will follow shortly
