Are all scooby drivers old men??
nearly 27 now and awaiting delivery of my second scooby - both UK both brand new.
This year for the first time my insurance is below £1000.
Yes it is expensive, fuel, add ons and insurance but I have tried a number of other cars and none come close.
So we are not all old men, however, I don't drink as much lager as I used to.

I am 24, bought my WRX when I was 23. Fuel bills scared me silly. Have adjusted my driving accordingly - sensible during week, a little more liberal at weekends.
Average about 25mpg
Been in IT since graduating at 21 but still cutting it fine on INCOME vs OUTGOINGS each month
Insurance £1420 with 3 years NCB and no points.
Was thinking of selling it soon to get something more sensible and save some money but I love it too much.

I am 20 with an 1997 Impreza Turbo, had owned quick cars since I started driving, the one before the imprezza was a Clio Williams with 185bhp. It used to pull you all over the road when you put your foot down. Impreza is the best car I have ever owned and I have had a few !!!
Also insurance is £2,400 quid fully comp and I work in IT sales before any of you lot say daddy paid for it !!!

29 not for very long, looks like a few 30th's coming up. Bought MY98 UK standard a year ago, work in IT, get the boss to pay my £1700 insurance, clean license, full no claims. Get 25p per mile, use probably 50p a mile. Fill up, when empty, use 'til empty, fill up...
Fair enough mate, but there seem to be a lot of 20 year olds driving scoobys around here- most, actually all, 20 year olds I know could not afford a scooby in a million years, they are either students, or just dont get paid enough...you guys must live with mummy rent free and have no money left over for a life.
Hey.. U cheeky get!!
I live with mummy.. She charges me 80£ a month!! It costs me approx 800£ a month to run my car!! Which leaves me approx 900£ to my self!!
To be honest i am trrying to sell it becuase i need to move out of home..
Pete
P.s. i'm 22 with a my99..

I'm just 26 and have got a MY99 with S/S back box and ITG panel filter - I've had the car 5 months and love it!! With the missus on the insurance (she's foreign and only 23), with NCP and NCB of 4 years it comes to £1100 with Privilege (off-road parking in Herts.)
SUL petrol costs me c. £45 per 300 miles.

Up again - 47.
P1 insurance 770 with two SP30`s.
Fuel consumption 22 to 30mpg SUL only
In my second year of Subaru ownership; previous MY00 was a little disappointing - not as involving as previous `quick` FWD machines. P1 is so much better but perhaps these cars are too good as again it`s not so involving.....but there again maybe it`s my age !!!!
Cheers

I'm 24 and have just bought a P1. Well I guess the finance company bought it and I am in the process of paying them back. Forever!! Its amazing how big an overdraft you can get nowadays!
Insurance was a bit of a problem, some people gave me quotes over £8k, in the end I got it with Tesco for £1,800, with full NCB and an SP60.
All my mates think I am mental, but if your a petrolhead you always seem to find a way of convicing yourself that you can afford the car you want and its in fact something you need!

31, and driving a MY94 WRX import. Had it 2.5yrs - and it's still not paid for...but it's worth it!
Insurers don't seem to like imports any more :-(
Mine is stock as a rock, but is £950 thru A-Plan despite full NCD...

See this smiley - it's got the same amount of hair as I have.
Mind you have a Scoob when you're 'middle-aged' (cheek sod) is a good excuse to play with the children!
Mind you it makes difference from other middle aged tasks like playing golf and going fly fishing

Trout - splosh
Err - Think I`m the oldest one so far at 57? I teach at a college of FE and the look on the faces of the students when I drive in and out is PRICELESS I`ve actually heard "What`s that old bloke doing in a car like that" Well, I worked bl***y hard for what I`ve got and the job I do (stress induced heart attack material!) and my love of quick cars keeps me young(`ish) or as my daughter keeps reminding me - "Pa you`r in the throes of your mid life crisis" !!
By the way £535 insurance, all mods declared
