In no way is it only US sitcoms - it can get various characters from The Office and got Alan Partridge.
In my experience of it the main reason it does not get characters is that us punters get a question wrong because we don't know enough about the characters.
There are a lot it does not know and even more it does seem to know - some after only a handful of questions!! Overall I would give it 8 out of 10 for being pretty smart
so surprised anyone here beat it

PS The reason I don't think it gets Boddicea is that there are so many different spellings so it is not correlating the answers.

Well, I win this round. You are player number 9 to pick Oz Osbourne from Auf Wiedersehen Pet, and what a clever choice it was! You almost had me for a while, but you let your guard down. Don't worry, it happens to all of us sooner or later. Please play again, and next time I'll be ready for you, Oz Osbourne from Auf Wiedersehen Pet.
Not a US sitcom, I believe

See:
I win again! You are player number 427 to have chosen Albert Arkwright from Open All Hours. I knew you were Albert Arkwright from Open All Hours from the start, but I strung you along for a while to make it seem more sporting. I hope that one day you will overcome the powerful sense of humiliation that you now feel. Until then, good luck.

How was I to know that he once had a pet shrimp called Simon long before the shows inception, but who was once mentioned in passing by a smaller than usual water vole called Larry who didnt have an equity card but got his voice on camera in an outside broadcast on scene 3 of episode 1 series 2???
