I presume that I'd want the best quality image to be able to forward it to the printers? The my06 picture you've used, how big is that image? I'd presume that you should make the graphic of the banner as good quality as possible.
The original image must be of a decent resolution to start with Chris. You can not take a 800x600 picture for example which is only 72dpi (screen resolution) and then enlarge it to 8000 x 6000 at 300dpi(average print quality) and expect it to look as good. Even photoshop isnt that good. I'll bring the last banner design I did on Thursday as its to big to email (461meg) even zipped up its 198meg! I'm sure a few of you have taken a picture with a camera phone and then tried to print it out a4 size! Same principle applies here.
A 6ft x 2ft banner at 300dpi will be 21600 x 6624 pixels by the way!
If in doubt then the higher the resolution the start image the better the finished printed product.

Thanks mike for the offer
I've had a good few hours play with it tonight, and it seems an ide cable has gone caput
I've got the main hd up and running, so I'll have to get another for the secondary hd and dvd drive later in the week. Should be sorted
What pc's have you got spare, anything better than an athlon 2000?

The server I have is only a p3 800mhz and the other two desktops are both p4 1.8ghz but one has no memory and the other has no hard drives. I'll pull these apart and make a decent machine from them. Yours is about 1.6ghz is it?

a p3 800mhz! thats faster than my last pc
I've no idea what the athlon runs at, but it says 2000 something or other on it. I expected you to have a few g4 macs lying around, with some duel core pentiums gathering dust on a server shelf!
I'm in need of an update I think. You have pm
Back on topic with this guys, and I've pm'd sticky stuff from the wyioc who has offered a number of times in the past to sort our banners out. Most of you are wearing stickers he kindly printed out

Right I asked Rach her opinion and she says the Scoobynet sign looks an old sign due to the colours, bit dull.
She thinks the Blue and Red one looks modern and bright.
I agree with this too.

There's no way on earth a banner needs printing at 300dpi. 72dpi is way too much, as the viewer is usually at least 10' away. It' a banner, not something to hang in the Louvre!
Not read the thread, as I'm a bit busy at the mo. What's the native res for the pic above? Let me know that and I'll let you know the feasibility of printing it onto banner vinyl at a resolution that's something decent.

The above banner is almost there - i'd say change the font to Subaru style - whatever that maybe and i'd say bang on

Lee and Mike have both come up with excellent designs, so I'm ordering one of each off sticky stuff from the wyioc. I'm getting cd's of the designs to send over to sticky, then I'll go pick the banners up when completed next week. I'm going with the one you like and also mikes design too. With the one we've already got, we'll have a banner for every occasion now
Anyone not happy with this arrangement? Speak now

Winners are:

I like the white space inside the border of cheshire. I'm going to use that to get everyone to sign their name at the NBO and subsequent meets
Also Lee's excellent design skills:
I will say though Lee, could you please change the "south manchester and cheshire subarus" into "south manchester and cheshire scoobys"
Both of those on disc for thursday please Gents
