I don't miss having rear wash/wipe. I use the wingmirrors when reversing and the airstream clears the water off it (mostly) once you get over 40-50mph anyway.

I mean, even my fiancee's K reg Nissan Micra has a rear wiper! Bit tight of Subaru not bothering with most of the Imprezas.
The Micra is a hatch back, there fore it suffers from road spray.. The purpose of the wiper is to remove dirt not water.

Here's me thinking a jetwash/ sponge/car wash etc was for removing dirt

Damn, it seemed like you were. How do you cope in this damp, wet and rainy country?

I love my car, it's the best car I’ve ever had, I was just saying that after having one for over 8 years it's hard to get used to a car which doesn't have one, especially with all the rain we get round here.
However it's not the end of my life and my cars still ace!

Let the post originator justify his own ground, rather that you run around with the usual chip on your shoulder.
I was only looking for a simple answer to a simple question! i.e are products like Rain X worth the money?

I think if you read my original post I actually said, "Whilst this is an incredibly minor thing on a top car - I can see it will annoy me", not "I hate my scoby because it doesn't have a rear wash wipe and I must cancel my order now!".

I guess I should now expect this sort of response to all questions asked here....not sure why though

Thanks anyway to those who provided the constructive responses and I await the usual torrent of abuse that will follow this post

But its purpose is not to remove rain, its to remove road spray that gets whipped up by the rear wheels which tends to be alot worse on a hatch back.

I've owned saloon cars for years and cant say I ever miss having a rear wiper, I can see just fine out of the back window even when its wet, And I've got these fantastic inventions called side mirrors

The problem these days of course is that there are so many cars faster and better than the Scoobys, such as Astras, Golfs, Foci, Clios and most new Audis, that you need to be able to see out of the rear window to see them approaching and then get out of their way.

No, it's because they're getting so tiny in the rear view mirror as you pull away from them that you need to wipe the rear window to have any chance of seeing them behind you.

I've always had a rear wash wipe on all my cars, including my current Impreza.(import) I would miss having it TBH.

I apologise. But I cannot let people like Chris consistently make backstabbing comments at myself, whilst ignoring others who are posting comments of the same context. It is not just this thread he's been doing this on. And I'm sorry you and your thread got dragged into this.

Anyway. I have never put any sort of product on my glass except Windowlene and Methylated spirits to clean it. I find because the car is washed weekly and waxed monthly, that the wax residue washes off the roof onto the glass giving quite literally the same water repelling action as products like Rain-x. And it's been like that on any car I've owned.

I only have to use my wipers in light spray or heavy rain, all other times it just beads off. Rear is the same. The wiper blades (cheapy Lucas blades) must be over 6 years old now - and this is a car thats used daily

Hope that answer the question

apology accepted It wasn't a dig at you personally, it just happened that your post was the one I picked to quote!

Anyway, general consensus is that people don't use it as they feel they don't need to - I guess I will suck it and see. If I am really that bothered, which I won't be as otherwise I wouldn't have bought a scooby over a Focus ST or Astra VXR, then tough *******!

Cheers.
