The irony is not lost. Particularly as members on here may not realize that other people may see their noisy Scoobs as cheap chav cars with loud exhausts. One man's meat is another man's poison.

You could always look into ASBO's.
By keeping a diary of events such as his stupid driving, noise level and the 'other' problems that he is causing on the estate.
This can then be presented to the local council/goverment and things can then be set rolling to get rid of the little ******.
The goverment loves these at the moment.
Also as much as it might hurt to talk to the traffic taliban they might be interested in giving his car the once over. We all know how much they like issuing HORT/1 for loud exhausts and points for dodgy looking tyres.
It could end up costing him a lot of money.

Just a couple of ideas. I really like the 0800 number above though

Report him for dangerous driving with a couple of independent witnesses before he kills someone. If they ignore that write to your local paper.

Why not just have a word with him? You never know, if you get your approach right and demonstrate some relating skills the lad may appreciate it and simmer down. This is the first step, surely

Edited: just re-read your first post and I see you can't control your temper and resort to violence when you don't get your own way. Perhaps my suggestion was optimistic. Are there any reasonable people on your estate that may be able to talk with him?

add a little more to the story, tel them you were out crossing the road when ths idiot came round the corner. See if there is anyone else who hates him enough to back your story up. Ie, to say that yes mr officer, he drives like an idiot every day...

failing that, pay some suggest to one of your neigbours that they pay some ****** to torch his car

To be honest, I'm not suprised the kid has no respect. The adults in his environment probably behave like gibbons but expect him to show maturity and consideration.

JTaylor, to be fair, im getting very annoyed with this chav and his mates, and I know that if I went and spoke to him reasonably, there's a strong chance he'd get lippy, and given he's wound me up a lot already, I might feel like shoving his head up the exhaust pipe to muffle it.

I expect everyone to show other people a mature consideration when living in close proximity, the issue here is that he isnt, and therefore doesnt deserve it in return.

JTaylor,

You sound like a very PC magistrate, or even a modern schoolteacher!

Put a bigger, louder exhaust on your scooby and drive faster past his house!

He has probably watched chavved up Imprezas speeding around.

He has seen the CockLinks flashing and the big backbox exhausts roaring.

He has played on his PS2 and knows how to drive.

He has come onto ScoobyNet and seen the threads on speeding, the threads on 500BHP, the threads on noise and anti-social behaviour!!

He is the product of the Rally Chavs of ScoobyNet!!

What a mature attitude .If youve already tried to reason with the young scaly then the only other thing you can do (within the law) is to try and get your neighbours on side .If the police have most of the estate ringing and complaining most nights then they have no choice but to do something about it.Other than that youve only got illegal means to sort it out, thats just the sad state of affairs our country is in at the moment.

in a town where I used to live warrington in cheshire, members of the public were given speed cameras to use in built up areas where they had complained of speeding motorists. See if your local force does the same, voice your concerns over this particular idiot, the manner in which he is driving and the areas where he is doing it. Alternatively use a videocam that records time and sound and film him in the act, give running commentary.

And like all these schemes, I bet 90% of the people they caught speeding were the same residents complaining about other people speeding.

Fair one SideShow. I don't know the kid, but recall when I was his age I had enormous respect for adults that took the time and had the courage to reason with me. I don't want to come across as a bleeding heart liberal, because I'm not, but I've witnessed kids who've been branded as toe rags respond brilliantly to the right level of communication. This may not work with this lad and I appreciate he may try your patience, but engaging him on a personal level and giving him a chance has to be the first step. If this doesn't work, then clearly you need to shop him.

Confession time: I drove irresponsibly in my Peco'd Metro when I'd just past my test. Then I bought 106 Rallye and fitted a Mongoose and drove every where like a tit. I was fortunate enough to have supportive parents, teachers and others who didn't give up on me. Maybe this lad won't be so fortunate and will pass on his learnt behaviours to his kids. If he doesn't deserve mature consideration from people like you and your peers then that's it; game over. The cycle's perpetuated and nothing's gained. I appreciate it's big picture stuff - but sometimes we all need to take a look at it.

Additionally, and uniquely, Pete's right. He's only doing what he's seen the older boys do. The level of hypocrisy from some of the thread's contributors is staggering.

JTaylor,

Trouble these days is that so many of them are prepared to kick you in the Goolies, or knife you if you so much as look at them or say hello to them. Is it really worth the risk?

I think before you do anything you (or a neighbour) should at least TRY to talk to him. I worked with these type of kids for a while and it really pi$$es me off to see them causing cr@p now, but the reality is everyone deserves one chance.

I really think JTaylor has got the right idea here.
Then, once you have tried to speak to him, you can at least try other means with a clear conscience. The police should be the first stop, with a few neighbours to support your story and give it the community care look mentioned earlier.
If that didn't work you could always watch for him one night, then phone the police with his details (reg number, make and model etc), tell them you were coming home from work or whatever, and say this kid overtook you at 50+ in your residential area. If he drives like a tit all the time he won't remember not doing it, police pop round to see him, warning (or points, depending on his attitude), bob's your mum's brother.

Again if that doesn't work you could always take the dog out for a walk (or borrow one if you haven't got one), pause next to his car to tie your lace, and stick a potato up his exhaust or something.
Bottom line here is you are wound up and you'll feel that way until you do something about it. Just make sure you take the right steps when you do do something. Going out there and smacking the little **** will only put you in the police's notebooks. And this guy doesn't sound worth it.

Again, all IMHO of course!!!!

Dan.

ps let us all know where you are and i'm sure one night one of us can stick the potato up his pipe!!!

That's all fine but what if you do not want the confrontation, once you do this then he will have a pretty good idea of who has reported him - even if it is not you who has you could get the blame.

He could be an agressive nasty piece of work or just fine and comply, however i would think twice especially if it was near to home, then again i have a family to think about, as a single guy i would have a word
