Guys,

Just had to mention again about the SCOOBY MANIA Backbox that i've fitted to my Type R.

They will be available to order from Scooby mania in the next couple of weeks when they receive supply. You can tell by the ease of fitting (20 mins.) that plenty of thought has gone into the design and manufacture of the BB which will be part of their 3" mandrel bent full stainless system.

It is simply AWESOME. The noise had got more bassy since fitting it at the weekend and it looks gorgeous. I used to run the legendary Scoobysport BB on my old MY97 UK Car and I would even say that the exhaust note better's that!!

Cheers again to MikeT for sorting it all out at such short notice. I feel very privileged!!

I think this system may be quite popular.

Cheers
Chris.

Jay, I wish I was in your position.....what a tough choice, not. GO FOR THE TYPE R, it sounds like the ultimate scooby.

Rannoch,

I agree with what you say. I did, however, presume that the Prodrive derivatives of the Impreza were 'complete' cars, as is the 22B and P1.

Cem,

P1 is type approved - P1 WR is not - dealer fitted modifications at the customers discretion for a mammoth £6k.

Same with RB5, RB5 WR - so my point is that if you are comparing cars then you should (as you agree) think about the RB5 WR as the baseline against which anything else is compared.

(...and to make things more complicated some dealers have their own 'tuning' packages, e.g. Bell and Colvill - muddying the standard v. non-standard waters even more)

But to do this you either have an RB5 WR which is a modified car, or you have an RB5 which you need to get modified. You get my drift.

Overall you are correct in that this shouldn't be a debate of best mod - and I don't think that it is.

Perhaps if we understood the budget it would be easier.

What would be the best Scoob for £20k, with RB5 and STi Type R being candidates?

R

That would make sense, seeing what kind of money there is, we can make a more accurate assumption then.

My budget for either car is around 22k.

I've seen a few Type R v5's going for about £18500 and the cheapest RB5 I've seen is £19500.

Cheers

JayRaj,

are the Type R's new?

I have heard of STis V/VI being available NEW for around £20k. You may have to search around tho.

You should also consider the STI 4 door as a good compromise between the two.

Cheers,

R

Ranoch,

They are S or T plates. The cheapest new Sti 6 that I saw was for £22,500 OTR.

Where can you source one for £20k?????

If this price is true, that's a bloody bargain.

Jay,

I've had the sti6typer for 2 days now and it keeps getting better!

Buy the R mate, you wont regret it - its the scooby i always wanted.

Did some itinital handling tests last night, understeer whats that then? this thing is so well ballanced that the rear will free inself and assist the cornering at which point mild throttle (running in) will throw the car round in no time at all! When my evo6 mate gets back from the uk hes gunna be imprezzad...

Only tried slow corners since im babying the car but i can feel a HUGE difference to my sti4 - fast corners you would have to watch ya back mind. Love the suspension feel aswell - nice and sporty and simply devourers our crap roads with ease.

Jay, the R's for you im sure...

Edit: keyboard playing up again

Cool

Mark,

Thanks for your comment. It looks like the Type R is the one for me.

How much is the Type R in Hong Kong?

Cheers
