Yes m8 CAT2 can claim the fame as the 1st cat as I found an article on the web about Cat1 being written off it had b4 and after pics, the b4 was a full magazine feature and man it was stunning with TV's the lot, but the after pics such a shame.

So CAT2 we salute you as you now wear the crown

Cool!! Although it is sad that number 1 is no longer with us. I've sent some pics to the Cat register, but they're not up yet. I'm considering going on the tunnel run as I haven't been on an organised run before and 50+ Scoobs together are gonna sound awesome, especially through the tunnels! The backbox is a Magnex oval which sounds lovely in conjunction with a Blitz air filter, but otherwise the engine is completely standard. Not for long though, as I've got the chassis completely sorted now (except for some new dampers). All I've got to do is find a few thousand for the engine mods. I've got the disease good and proper!! I loves it mind.

PS - STI carbon strut brace (tart) and red/clear rear lights waiting to be fitted......

Hello m8

I will see if I can find the article again on cat 1. Your's sounds nice and you have done it the rite way too with the chassis first . Did you email your pics to Phil @ the SIDC?

It would be awsome to see you on the tunnel run it is the Essex Scooby Crew event of the year, a lot of people don't post up but come along anyway so last year their was around 130 scoobs along with a couple of TVR's, Porsche's, V8 Lotus, and a BMW M5.
Many of the guys have flamers fitted so it is good and loud in the tunnels () their are plenty of video camera's being taken too (of witch I am one of them so if you and Nick Cat come along I will be getting plenty of footage of you ) after the cruise they will be edited into a DVD by one of our guys so you can buy one as a momento too

Hope you can make it

Chris...

I'm really sold on the tunnel run - I will be collecting my wife from Heathrow that day so if I can persuade her to stay in London overnight, I'll be there.

PS-Excuse my ignorance, but is a flamer kit the spark plug in the exhaust job i.e. lots of flaming on the overrun? If so, doesn't it knacker the paint on the rear bumper? If not, what sort of cost are we talking?

Edited to say I'll be there for the tunnel run!! Woo Hoo!!!

WOOHOO Glad you can make it and finally get to meet another cat owner

Yeah the flamer kit is the spark plug in the exhaust most of the guys in the ESC have them and I have only ever seen 1 with fooked paint on the bumper and I think that must have been an accident

The guy who fitted mine is Cornelius he has done most of the flamers in the ESC and they are his own design and work really well. He charges £65 plus fitting for them and done an amazing job ( https://www.scoobynet.com/big-thanks...s-t543185.html) even the switch in the dash looks like it belongs in their They work best with a de-cat and a dump valve, but if Tiny come on the tunel run (Essex Scooby Crew Chairman) look out for his as I belive he has had his remap done to deliver extra fule on overrun he even has a camera under the car to see the flames inside the car (due to the demos he does at the shows)

Looking forward to meeting you m8 and keep an eye on the tunnel run thread for route info and it may be worth posting up for a meeting place and time

Come on Nick Cat you know you wanna come

Hello Mr Toad
Another Cat owner and another Nick Yes, certainly add it to the register. Chris (catalunya97) will be along soon and will give some details about submitting photo's to the reg. Hopefully we'll have a forum soon as well.

Cambridge is a bit far for a local meet but some of the others north the Thames might be interested there is also the tunnel run at the end of Oct which a few of us are on.

I'll post up a piccy of the badge with some dimensions soon - just off to try to get the bloomin' swirls off the lovely mica black paint, doh!

Ok, have now got the photo's. They also show how shiney my cat is

Side badge
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b4...DSCF0003-1.jpg
Max length 152 mm; max height 33 mm

Boot badge
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b4...DSCF0002-1.jpg
Max length 137 mm; max height 62 mm (the whole badge inc 'impreza' etc).

Thinking about it I could have added a scale. Just say if this'll help.

Cheers
Nick

Hi m8 glad to see you promoting the tunnel run and thanx for posting the pics.

WOW your car is so shiney lol cand non faded badges too I am hoping to get a respray in the not so distent future as the Mica black paint looks so nice when the sun hits it but mine has so many swirls and bird crap stains it is unreal also my Catalunya stickers are so faded the look more misty orange than red so may have to contact RB5_286 soon after all.

Keep well m8 and looking forward to meeting you @ the tunnel run

Thanks Chris. Check this arty one out, took last night as the sum was going down:
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b4...7/DSCF0011.jpg

The two other Cat's that I saw at Alton both had faded badges too. I can only think previous(?) owners had been polishing over the badges . It did detract from the black paintwork.

I know you mean about the swirls. I had them quite bad and it was really annoying me. They had built up over spring/summer a combination of tree sap not being properly removed and cheaper waxes.

Anyway just before Alton I did:
Wash (obviously)
Clay bar to remove pollutants
A deep resin polish formulated for dark colours and to remove swirls.
Mequires gold class wax
And then used one of the Mequires polishing clothes which are not supposed to create swirls.
Made a world of difference but yesterday after washing and drying could see some faint swirls again. I'm getting bloomin' obsessed and can be seen in an evening, bottle of Stella in hand, looking at the car from different angles.

Cheers
Nick

Take a look and see what you think www.motormeet.co.uk as the forum is so young @ the mo their is not that many members but prob 60% of them are scooby drivers

Speak soon guys
