Nice power, but torque is a bit low isnt it? Or is that a characteristic of the vf28?

Torque does look low thought it should make at least 280's-290s. Still not bad bhp.Did you ask why it was a little low?

Since I have virtually no mods to my MYO2 WRX, I want something more than just a remap, so this upgrade from Powerstation seems to provide the biggest bang for the bucks.

Street Legal Package
EcuTek Re-Map
3" Milltek Exhaust with Sports CAT
K&N Filter
~270bhp @ £1350
inc. Comprehensive Warranty

However with a wedding coming up, I can't even get away with spending this much.

How about a group buy for this package?

The powerstation location is a long way for me (I'm in Bucks) to get the upgrade done in a day. Anywhere that offers a similar package but a bit closer? I tried G-Force (currently rebranding) but their upgrade packages cost a lot for seemingly little performance increases compared to competitors

360Nm Best part of 270 lbs ft in old money (?). Maybe a bit lower than one would expect, but to be fair, cars do vary and it's my understaning that 1.25 is quite conservative boost for a VF28. I'm sure Rich has his reasons. Importantly, the torque curve is nice and flat. Bet it's a lot nicer to drive.

268.9 lb/ft to be exact yeh, youre right its a nice curve. I just made that comment as my MY00 with decat n panel filter on standard turbo made 272lbft.

Hi, I thought the torque was low too but a mate had exactly the same results on his impreza with the same mods except for a TD05, at Power Engineering.

The cars running 54% boost duty cycle with a 1mm restrictor. Is that right? I thought you didnt need a restrictor with a 3 port

Rich was having a bad day so when I got 313bhp he wanted to leave it. He didnt recommend going above 1.25 so I just trusted him.

If it has been mapped conservatively then. Would putting a Dawes Device on and setting it to 1.25-1.35 bar be a bad idea? I’ve heard they spool the turbo up quicker any way

No. leave it as Rich set it mate. There's no point paying good money to have someone set up the boost, ignition and fueling properly then wacking a manual boost controller on there and cranking it up yourself. You'd be fiddling for the sake of a few lbs ft on a RR and who knows what you might do to the safety margins at the same time. It's how the car drives that is imp, and looking at those graphs it should be very nice.

If you're genuinely not happy take it back to Rich, if you're just chasing numbers forget it and enjoy the car!!

Ill leave it as it is then. I am happy , Its just i had the AVC-r and S-AFc ii in before with the TD04 and it had a real kick to it. Probably because I could run 1.2 bar in gears 2 and 3. Now with a remap ill be boosting between 0.7-1 bar in 2nd gear and 1.1-1.20bar in 3rd.

Now its smoother it feels slightly less powefull but thats just a false impression from the power delivery. The power now holds on longer which is the biggest differeance from the TD04. I think it makes the car more drivable to be honest.

Overall a big thumbs up . I just could do with some nice prodrive brakes now to finish the car off

The £1350 quoted excludes VAT, so full cost is about £1600!
Anyone had this package on a late model WRX If so would love to hear your comments.

I started this group buy, and after I had mine done asked Rich when he wanted me to stop it.

He just said to let it run, and that was the last I heard.

So pretty sure the price is still the same, just contact Powerstation mentioning the Scoobynet Group Buy and you should be fine.

As for mods, you will be much better off having the normal exhaust/panel filter mods first.

You will see benefits with no mods, but it would be minimal.

If you look at page 4 of this thread, there are pics of my day there.

With exhaust/panel filter mods I achieved 273bhp/273lbft on my MY00 classic - well happy with that, and not only for more power - drives much better now all round.

Default street legal package.

upgraded my MY03 STI UK to Powerstations 320bhp street legal package.

326.8bhp
286lb/ft

initial disappointment by the torque as others have been here. seems to be a trait of PS. but if std turbo running modest boost, then at least it wont blow up i guess. top end is amazing. would like to compare the boost with an equivalent WRC-tech tuned car.

getting use to the increase in exhaust noise from standard. Glad milltek is one of the more quite ones on the market.

no idea on the dBs.

I had mine (03 UK STi) remapped at end of April with similar results and as you I was disappointed with the torque, however got it on another RR again at Triton in Bournemouth on Saturday and my figures were 305hp/300lbft against 326hp/280lbft @ PS.

The main reasons for the hp diff was temps, PS I.Temps 17C and Triton 32C so probably why I was down, but what it proved for me was torque and HP are about the same. But at the end of the day its all about how it feels on the road (figures are for pub talk...still nice to have though ) and I'm still loving mine.

Thanks VJ STI

agreed no point in chasing figures anymore. I read the "NewAge Mods Part 2" on this site and at the end it compares PS with WRC-Tech figures. Both WRC-tech plots show +40lbft more than PS and the author suspects that its to do with the way the RR is loaded.

I had my STI done last Thurs (temp 24degC) so cant complain about the bhp, looking fwd to adjusting my driving style to accomodate the incerase in performance.

I have no comparsions to make on the exhaust noise. Do you think its loud? Its a little loud for me (but I did have a std before) but will probably get use to it. dunno the dB rating.

are you getting better mpg

I just had a remap, I didn't get their package so my exhaust is different (3" H&S with sport cat DP) on longer journeys it can drone a bit but all in its not to bad and when gunning it it souuunds lovvverly.

Is MPG better = No - I just get where I'm going that bit quicker But very little difference to be honest

As for adjusting your style it will happen and then you'll want more
