I sent Rich an email yesterday to ask about different models/years of Impreza to check the price was fixed for all. He hasn't mentioned roller time, but thats surely included. Dynamix has spoke to him anyway, so thats confirmed. Dual map - no idea, but very much doubt it.

End of March or April is fine, swtmerce and dynamix are having theirs about the same time so no probs there - I emailed Rich about time scales and he was cool with it.

The Ecutek remap is done on the rolling road and is included in the cost. Mine took 1.5 - 2 hrs to complete.

Dynamix

I have a 53 plate UK STi, just been checking the WRC website and they do a switchable map so will give them a bell tomorrow and look at costs compared to this GB and let you know.

Don't know fella. Yes, you 'should' tell them, but as to how much they would charge extra is down to the company of course. When I was with L&V for e.g., they did not care about any mods unless you increased engine size. I am currently with A-Plan, they are pretty lenient also - in fact it didn't cross my mind to tell them I was remapping.

VJ - I've been the one organising this GBuy, but no worries if you want to let dynamix know whats going on

Cheers,

Ian.

cheer mate,

i'm with admiral at the mo, i'm pretty young (22) so my insurance is quite abit
already, it went up 120 quid when i told them i got my exhaust done.

i think its crazy that a insurance company will charge you extra premium when you tell them that ' say your exhaust is changed- an it don't matter wether you've had just the tailpipe/backbox changed or the whole shabang by getting the up pipe , down pipe, decat etc etc all done.

i heared that some remapping can not be detected by insurance companys because it would cost them too much for an electrian to try an findout if your cars been tampered with--- thats what i got told about people that get their turbo diesels re-mapped anyway.

I'd imagine you are probably right there. V difficult to tell that a car has been remapped. Just do it - live a little, I'm sure you won't regret it

its a big if tho mate, i seriously can't afford to get in trouble with my insurance, i'm lucky they are insuring me as it is, lol

how does the remep effect fuel consumption? i'm going to be using the car abit more for work, so don't wanting it gussling loads more than it does now eh.

bhp an torque increase for this kinda money is just crazy cheap, i'm basically having to make a decision on wether i want to do this or sort my audio..... oh decsions decsions!!!

fuel consumption does not alter - if anything it is improved cos it is working more ffectively. HOWEVER, with the extra power/torque the temptation can be to press the loud button harder and more often

basically driving at 85mph on the motorway will be the same load as before => same consumption.

Hi Wrexer, as dynamix said above, time scale is not a problem.

You are now on the list, as soon as we have 5 I will email Rich with user names.

Then it'll be up to you to contact Rich, and arrange when you want to go down there.

I'll be going within a few weeks probably, assuming we get one more of course! However, some people are not having it done until end of March or beginning of April.

I had a reply from him today, and as your post above mentions, the 3 port would cost an additional £100+vat. He also said that this price of £499+vat is for any Impreza after 1999.

2. swtmerce
3. dynamix

So again, one more needed

Woohoo!! Excellent, as above timescale is fine. I have emailed Rich with our 5 usernames, and then you can contact him yourselves to arrange a date that suits you.

This is the email address I have been contacting him with:

office@powerstation.org.uk

When you contact him, mention the Group Buy organised by Ian Jeffery and your username.

Other people who wish to join, no probs there as some people will not be having their remaps until March/April. If more people put their names down, I will contact him again.

1. StiX
2. swtmerce
3. dynamix
4. The Wrexer
5. ScoobaSteve

Thanks,

Ian.

a practical question - how long does this all take the guys at powerstation to do? if it necessitates a whole day, what can you do round there?

by the way, the price i was quoted was favourable.

hi, yes, please add me in.

as regards the earlier mention of fitting exhausts locally, my normal garage were too afraid of potential problems fitting the downpipe so refused!
