how much you looking for the exhaust ?? how much are one of them SX fuel pressure regulator ???? .. would this be collection only ???? cheers waz in northampton

Hi Mate thanks for the reply.

The SX or aeromotive fuel pressure regulator is around £240.
As luck would have it I have to pass Northampton as I am going to Milton Keynes Next week or the week after on Business so If you wanted I could meet you at a service station on the M1 or something.

The Firestorm was on my car for 2 years. It was loud but not that loud it passed all noise regs trackside

Looking forward to hear the buddy club exhaust though. I heard it with a cat equiped car but not with a decat downpipe.

i agree with Rich - they buddy club's are THE loaudest ! if you think a nurspec or similar are loud, then you'll have a supprise when you start that thing !

It wasnt a patch on the firestorm, that was loud. I drove a car for about 6 weeks with the Buddy Club on and it was spectacularly quiet compared to the Firestorm. However the Firestorm had a group A Decat Down pipe and the Buddy Club was via a standard down pipe. The Buddy Club will be paired up with my Group A decat Downpipe (if I stay with a turbo in the standard position that is). Only then will I know for sure which of the two is the loudest

lol I had a firestorm and thought that was loud, untill a guy with a Buddyclub decided to over take me ... it made mine sound like a scooter

saying this I would love to own one they do sound so good, I bet it wasn't cheap either

any way less exhaust Im watching this thread like a hawk, my next step might depend on this

I have ran an RB5 with this very exhaust on and I **** you not it wasnt as loud as the Firestorm. But like I said we'll have to wait and see.

Engine looks great Daz! Was not sure about the manifold colour but looks good now its on the engine.

Im assuming thats the 5kg Flywheel on there?

The flywheel is one of RCMS's 4.5kg jobs when they first fitted the 6 speed to my RB5 two years ago.

The manifold colour is the same colour as the blue samco hosing that I have. It actually looks far better in the engine bay than it did on the bench so I am well happy. The engine dropped straight in. It took me an hour from assembling the hoist to putting it away again. Even the clutch bearing was a doddle!!

still havent made my mind up what bloody turbo to go for though!!!

Why no wrap on the headers/up-pipe?
Sure is blue...
Not sure if you are kidding about popping the engine back on so quickly??

Hi Graham,

Haven't wrapped the headers yet as I am not sure what I am doing turbo/ upipe wise.

The engine really was dropped in, matched up to the gearbox and all six bolts and two engine mount bolts were tightened to the correct torque and even the clutch release bearing was engaged within an hour. I was amazed myself as I was all geared up for a battle. I even went to tesco's before hand to get a couple of four packs to "calm me down" after the fight I expected!!

Not complaining though and the beers were consumed in celebratory fashion rather than a medicinal one

Tonight I shall be bleeding the clutch and getting that right. If my fuel lines and fittings arrive today I shall be doing them too.

Them headers look as though they have been leaking like hell.

Which clutch you using Daz?

The engine either goes in in about 5 minutes, or its a complete ****.

Well spotted Steven.

Before the engine let go I had to have the headers re-welded. However I know they are now fine.

Using an Exedy ceremetallic clutch for the time being. Plan to go the Exedy Twin Plate route after the engine is run in but before I go to Andy for a full blown Map.

Twin fuel pumps or one, then teed off?

Cant remember what your power goal/turbo is now, but if your going above 450, then IMO you will be pushing a single walbro to the limit, a bosch would be better.

I know it costs money, but i would have changed the clutch before putting the engine back in .

Since i'm going down a similar route to Daz, a question springs to mind. Is 450 not close to the limit for a 2.5? Will be running a similar spec'd bottom end (parts courtesy of Mark). Infact, near enough the exact same spec as you ran for TOTB IV Steven. Would it be 'safe' to push the 450 mark and would this increase the chance of failure by a good bit? (re: john banks/7-8000miles and failure)

Dont want to open up the usual 'how much power from a 2.5' thread. Just a bit of a guide really.

Sorry to jump on you're thread Daz. Keep the updates coming...you're writing the idiot's guide on how to for me..

To be honest Doug, i dont see a problem if its a built bottom end. My old 2.5 covered 8000 miles in my hands with a Bigish GT30 on it, and barring the suspected head gasket failure it was fine.

Its since gone on to do somewhere in the region of 400~450bhp and 400+ ftlb's since in a STi7 that gets driven pretty damned hard using a 450bhp spec turbo, and it is showing absolutely no signs of a problem. It was stripped and checked between cars, and again no faults found.

The key thing is to be sensible IMO. Johns failures came about when he had boostaholic/high octane moments i think

Daz, when you say about fiitting the engine, you make it sound like its hard to do the clutch release bearing??

Fit to gearbox, put clutch fork through it, place pin / pivot through.. replace cover / retaining cap..

Fit Engine..

Push clutch lever to engage release bearing into clucth done..

The above should take around 10 - 20 Mins.

Cheers Steven. Would it be advisable to have the chambers done to help prevent gasket failure? (stock ver.6 sti) Or will this have no effect apart from aiding breathing...?

The four I have done have not exactly been difficult but I have had to force the clutch fork to engage the bearing onto the clutch pressure plate. However this time I just pushed it by hand and it clicked into place straight away. I was amazed
