to be honest the car didn't feel that fast, didnt seem to get pushed back in the seat when the boost kicked in but probably more map related

You'll find out when he gets home, didn't leave me until getting close to 20:00, I spent most of the afternoon watching a biker being picked up after trying to chop a Rover in half lengthways on the A419 ... not good (don't think it was down to him) Didn't start on Rich's car till 17:45.
cheers

all went well apart for the ear bashing I got from the girl friend for being 2 hours late
was taking it home easy after the long day, Jen said the car felt no different to before.
came to a largeish round about and gave it the beans... Jens words were something like " u **** ****** why have you made the car like this its mental your a nut case and Im never comming in this car again" as I had an evil little laugh saying so it feels no different to before
the petrol gauge says empty and it will stay like that till tommorw when I can master the brain power to go for a run...... Wow it feels good

loving it
up early to miss some off the sunday drivers, the car feels great
yes there is lag but you drive around it, never once did I get caugh out it the wrong gear. I ve been planning my next sage for some time now and always thought I would be going down the 2.5 route but to be honest I am so chuffed I think I will be going built 2 litre
the car pulls so strong in the mid range everything feels sweet and thats the only way to describe it. I have readthat when some guys have gone with big turbos they say its a bit rough ... this is far from it
My only problem is I keep changing gears to early, i think a few more outings and I will soon get used to the later power band
When I get my new carbon goodies I will get some photos up and a trip to scobyclinic for a rolling road run and that should do me
what next??? well i think the clutch ( still standard with 33k on it ) fingers crossed I can get enough put aside for a gear box at the same time... The power is so brutal I can't see the box lasting
Mark he did but I didnt see the graph he did say above 350 which was my target, and mines a heavy old girl with too many sound goodies in there ( fully deadend boot, doors, etc, 2 big subs etc etc etc) so Im not sure how well we compensated for the weight ... the car fells great and thats what Im liking

Nice to meet you yesterday Rich, and glad to here you have now sorted out the problem!
Sounds like you need to get a light weight sound install better still lose it altogether think how much better the power to weight ratio would be

nice to meet you ... i knew i had seen your plate from somewhere
i know i know but sounds sooo good, and to be fair I use the scoob as a treat going out once a week, 9 times out of 10 take Jen with me. Its something we both enjoy, the sound system is her's and i would miss it all part of the experience
Hows your car, Bob had a good ideas about keeping booster in the jack holder, stops the stink
felt sorry for the guy in the P1, as it was me last time with problems

Car feels totally different it's the 2nd time I've had the 20g mapped and it just gets better and better! i suppose the more hours spent on the map the more refined it's going to be, although Bob reduced the boost slightly using NF has made it feel alot!! stronger in the mid range without losing any top end, i really feel sorry for the box now
Already got the NF tucked away in the jack cubby hole.
What boost is it making??

being on the chocolate wrx pistons its peaking 1.45 and then holds 1.35 as usual with Bobs maps no flucutating boost gauge just streight to 1.45 then drops 1.35 every time and no waving needle like Ive had in the past

mmmm how many people runing big ower with out a front LSD
getting more confident with the loud pedal and the car seems much harder to control , probably more to do with the greasy roads
Im really interested to see what power its running, went on my favorite run today and found the car to be TOOO much of a handfull but it was a wet small b road, i am sure the car was quicker on that bit of road on the small turbo, seemed everytime I tried to use the power the car went all out of shape, but on the dual track its a different story all together
much respect needed with the extra power, Im not to sure how the guys with 500bhp + cope on the road I will be honest and say some of the inoccent fun has gone from the td04 days. This car is not easy to drive on the limmit it wants to spit you out, but guess this is just another learning curve

Agree with Graham - my own personal view is 400 BHP is more than enough. I was planning for more, but a drive of Bob Rawles car convinced me that (although nice) it needs a little too much respect.
In a classic this is, have driven a 500 BHP new age car and it was certainly a bit more manegable, but not as much 'fun' as Bobs!

400 bhp on a (hillclimb) country lane and pressing -on will overwhelm a stock chassis.
for good controlability, you need compliance as well as strict geometry control otherwise power steering creeps in and other nasty traits!
400 is more than enough for me (but not my chassis!)
