My dealer has only sold one...........to me!

They have given me a VERY good trade in price for mine (nearly choked on my coffee when he told me how much), and they're fitting various goodies for free.

They have no idea on when the PPP is coming out. Dealer Principal said they might not be bothering...........

The other shock I had was when the dealer told me that PPP would be 305bhp

What's the point it needs 320-350 to be worth it, yet another point not to buy one. Stick with the MY03-05 till we see what the new one will be like. Let's just hope they don't make an ar$e of the MY07.

Chaps

Let's get a few things straight.

If the Impreza is facelifted/replaced next year, it will be for 08MY NOT for 07MY so effectively 2 years away.

We are in the process of developing various performance packages but I can't tell you much about them at the moment other than the indication that the STi will have more than 305ps.

As I've actually driven an 06MY car, I can tell you that it hasn't lost the flat 4 noise although it may be a little quieter in some circumstances and it doesn't have a softer ride either

Mike,

Thanks for taking the time to reply, i know it must be busy at Prodrive, the point is that even if it is a MY08 car it will probably be available in late 07, thus making the MY06 a old car even though its a year old.

People would lose money galore with all these new models etc, surely having a PPP ready before the car was launched would have made more sense, or don't Subaru care!!!

I got rid of my car MY02WRX FOR A 350Z, i fully intend to return to the Subaru marque soon but will be waiting to see the new model which will not even have a bonnet scoop because of the new EU crash restrictions, does that mean FMIC, have to wait and see, can't wait to be honest.
maybe it is time to get rid of the large spoiler, grill, scoop image.

All in my opinion of course.

Mac

Isn't this the reason why most buy these cars

They need to address the weight issue imo 1235kg-1385kg-1395kg/1470kg-1410kg/1495kg.

Bloody thing will be a tank before long.

I see the spec D Sti is now showing on the subaru webby.... for the driver who wants a WRX STi that doesnt "look" like an STi ... oh its got silver wheels (no holding Pete back now ) and a decent stereo rather than the standard sh*t they put in the current one .... I speak from experience ... I just dont like it though and its a fortune at 28k *gulp* .... who the hell wants an STi that doesn't look like an STi

edit:.. forgot the leather seats

If it had the regular STi seats and didnt have the sat nav or fancy radio i could see the point of it. As it is i dont see its purpose.

I agree and it should be cheaper than a regular STi not more expensive. Wouldnt want leather in a performance car anyway.. IMHO of course!

Being relatively new to Subaru ownership my pre-scooby perceptions of the STI *were* that it was a totally hardcore rally beast and just too much of a monster to consider taking into a Tesco's carpark or use everyday.(and this is from someone who drove a 911 carrera as a daily driver!)

This IMO is the problem and why they are struggling to get new business. The perception of the marque to outsiders is too hardcore. If anything the 'rally' image has been TOO succesful.

However, if Subaru don't manage to sell their cars in high enough numbers then there may not be a MY08 coming to the UK at all - happened to Alfa Romeo...this is IMO why they are actively allowing the 'shipping of Imports' in through the backdoor and are paying lipservice in pretending to be upset only to save upsetting the uk dealer network. At the end of the day Subaru are ONLY interested in selling cars - and if the UK dealers *can't * shift them - THEY WILL!.

P.S Nothing wrong with buying a new car if you can afford it - ridiculous to suggest otherwise. No different to buying a new TV or a new pair of trousers...only more expensive..

Its hard to see really why Subaru have brought out this new model particularly after the initial reaction to the bugeye. Unless the new emissions regs are really so strict that they needed the 2.5 lump to meet them.
The blobeye has been popular and sold/is selling well. Is there really going to be another in a year!!
I would have thought a better strategy would have been to have kept the blob until then and perhaps bring out some more special editions to keep up interest and sales in the meantime.

Powerstation advertise a 2.5 wrx exhaust and map package up to 290bhp and exhaust and map for the 2.5 Sti to 340bhp. Both with K+N filter. I don't know if this includes a fuel pump. £1600 plus vat, though I'm sure you could do it cheaper and get similar power.
It would be nice to see a PPP package coming in at wrx 280bhp and Sti 330 bhp, but "what are the charnces of that happenin'?"

Any particular reason? What car did you have prior to this?

doesnt it take about 18 months to take a new model and make it ready for the WRC car? So its surely at least 2008 until a new one is out?

i am still waiting to hear about the PPP before deciding, the 05 model with a few grand off, free ppp and 5 year interest credit is a great deal, but the 2.5 does offer something different, firestorm will help the burble return too!!!

if there not selling now, they will depreciate very quickly from new.
as for the dealerships telling you customers are waiting for the ppp package bull@@@@, there job is to sell cars .what else can they say thats positive.ive seen a black one on a trackday at donington it looked well nice ,litchfields i think.
lets face it its not as pretty as the previous model ,ask your local dealer they struggling to sell them.the only good news to come out of this is there next model will be cheaper.

I think the problem with Subaru dealers not shifting many 06's is due to the customer getting wise to the fact that they are really only buying an 01 with some minor re-styling and the USDM 2.5 litre bottom end

If you dont like the current one, the pics of the next Impreza have convinced me an EVO is in my future. Sorry Subaru but you're killing it for me.

So the fact you can pick up new MY06 STI's for £22,000 (in stock now, WRX for £16k) has nothing to do with dealers not selling or the fact that residuals drop so much compared to dealers RRP?

Personally, when I see all the prices of the new shapes going South with each new model that Subaru introduce - I just think it's great, as the Classics cost even less to buy. I have no worries about the depreciation of my car as the money I spent on it was low enough that I can pretty much write it off. The next car I buy will probably be another Classic for even less money.

Contrast this with 1998 when I bough a new MY98 and was hit hard with depreciation 18 months later when I had to sell. I've learnt my lesson I can tell you.

Hardly a new model though is it. And DCCD is just paying lipservice to all the UK buyers moaning that they don't get the goodies that JDMs have had for ages.
