Its supposed to pull the hairs up from the skin.
They are very good, especially when you use the Gillette Gel - shaving has become more of a pleasure now

Mine arrived too! Got a battery already fitted, but noticed on the contents on the end of the box it says "1 Razor, 2 Cartridges, 1 Replacable AAA battery". Where the **** is the other "cartridge" then? Should'nt moan as its a freebie though I suppose.
