When I was 18 I lost my cherry.... no matter how hard I look I cannot find the bugger again, and as many of my exes say I was a stallion, that's a massive loss to loads of other women as well who could have had the pleasure. Thus many would say immeasurable....

Paid £6000 for a 2002 civic type r(booked at £9500 for trade)part ex'ed it against a 2003 sti with £3500 cash on top = my03 sti prodrive cost me £9500
So, my car in theory has lost £17000 in three year's
And there's peep's out there trying to sell bug eye wrx's for more

Never having had a new or nearly new car, I've never really lost much. The guy who owned our Volvo before us lost £19k, but that was over 6 years.
Bear in mind when you buy your new STI, you can buy a race car (hot hatch or 924), and race for a season, for <£5k. Then buy a 1 year old STI, and have some fantastic experiences.

If you pay £21,000 for a new car and keep it for 20 years then it has cost £1000 a year ...... not bad.
However,
Buy the same car, but 1 year old, at £14,000 and keep it for 19 years then it has cost £736 a year ..... excellent.
Just goes to prove that buying new cars is a mugs game .......... I guess, like me, you get caught just the once - then learn!!
And NOT do it again ..

Not an actual loss but if i had been desparate and not held out for a privite buyer, would have been 11k or there abouts on a wr1 in about 4 weeks !!!
Bought it new at list did not get on with it and was offered 21k for it by one dealer as a trade purchase.

mmmmmm.....
A few years ago i bought a rover 800 2 litre vitesse, it was 3 years and a week old, had 40k on the clock with a full rover history,new it was nearly £28 grand, i got it for £2.5, thats £25.5k in 3 years lost!, good car too!(200 bhp,leather,air con etc), I drove it for 2 years and sold it for £1k, bargain motoring!

Well,......
No actually, in two years all i had to replace were tyres and brake pads, have also had a rover 827 since and in the year i had it i had to replace one head lamp.......... can't fault em!

I bought a 20k mile 00 in August 2004 for £10k. Sold it for £7300 this week. I don't buy new as I lost in the past when i did.. I don't complain. Seeing 1 on the logbook in the previous owners field does not bother me.

My biggest money loss is easy, buying a calibra v6 in 2000 for 8k and spent another 7k modding it (still have it in dry storage). Its worth about 1500 now max
I sold a house (didn't even want to move!!), made about £40K on it, rented another place for three years "with a view to buy" *said the owner*.
Housing market takes off, owner decides he's not selling.
3 years rent £18K
Old house now selling for £40K more than I sold it for.
House I bought (smaller than the original one) £185K
£140K mortgage.....it was £56K on the last house.
Extra mortgage plus the rent....I reckon it's cost me £102K
BUGGER! Hindsight is an exact science!!
PS: I could kill my Mrs!!!

I'm pleased to say that i have never really lost that much on my cars, at worst probably £300 on the 8 cars i've had. The value of the scoob and how much i might lose if i sell is difficult to tell as it was a part ex with my 5 series.
On my estimations it shouldn't be too much i bought it (MY00 uk turbo with extra's) oct 2004 and chopped in my p plate 528i SE (with extras) plus £1100 privately of course

We're on our 7th new Scoob and have always sold/traded for good money.
You asked if Subaru had the worst residuals? They don't. A little bit of checking shows the value of the following '97/P reg cars:
Audi 1.8T rrp £21596 p/ex now = £2090 (90% loss)
BMW 328i rrp £24375 p/ex now = £2655 (89% loss)
Subaru Impreza Turbo rrp £18674 p/ex now = £3355 (82% loss)
With certain exceptions, most cars lose money. It's called Life!

how many ppl look at a 'new' car then check what that car/or its comparable car cost is 1yr/18months or 2yrs down the line from you buying it...
then that gives you an idea what your 'new' car will be worth/or lost

Back in 98 I bought a 2 year old Audi A4 1.8 Turbo Sport it was the most boring car on earth! I sold it in less than a year and lost £6500 !! but it was worth it as I got my first Scoob import and havent looked back since !
