Hilarious this thread - I especially like the old argument which goes like this:-

"I am too busy looking out for speed cameras that I cannot possibly keep my eye on the raod and my speedo at the same time"

WTF?????????????????????

These people need their cars taken off them and crushed as they are clearly incapable of driving ...........................

There is NO NEED to look for cameras if you are travelling at, or below, the speed limit.

And the only detector you need is freely supplied with the car, its called a Speedo!!

SLOW DOWN!!

Merry Xmas

Pete

despite psl's daily mail knee-jerk babble, i tend to agree for once. for example, the whole of northamptonshire is teeming with scameras and is known to be so. so why bother chancing it when driving through this godforsaken county? i know you'd want to get out of the place as quickly as possible but when there's a plod behind every bush and a camera on every gantry, don't give them a chance. be serene and to hell with the pushy insecure tw@t in the 318i behind you: let him get bagged.

How dare you. The rose of the shires don't you know.

All these speed cameras are signposted, on a website, and the local radio tells you where they are.

If you get caught speeding in Northamptonshire you are an idiot.

....yep, I got caught 3 times

Nope, but three years of fun scooby ownership and not one point on my license..Just shows how some of us can drive and some of us cant...

If you choose to break the speed limit then you deserve what you get. If you didnt choose to but a lapse of concentration led to you going so fast you get caught then your incompetent and shouldnt be on the road to begin with

All this moral support for some prat who's been caught so many times he is clearly a serial speeder and a danger to others. It worries me it really does...

Its bad enough when twonks post threads wining about being caught just once and wanting to get help towards an acquital. These people choose to play with fire and when they get burnt dont have the bottle to take it on the chin...
BUT
13 points and looking for advice? Sweet jesus...The guy should be locked up never mind banned...
Merry Xmas

don't you ever get bad karma driving through northampton? god i do everytime. must be rotten feng shui. you can sense it from the pitsford reservoir. not even passing The **** Inn (nor the blissful sanctity of waitrose) can lift the abject feelings of paranoia and impending doom ...

I do at least 40K a year but of that 30K is spent looking at the road and 10k looking at the speedo. (2 previous bans and currently six points)

The point must be that speeding isn’t dangerous, we know this the Government knows this and so do the Police it is all about forcing us off the roads onto public transport and raising revenue for the self serving camera partnerships just the same as parking tickets. If it was dangerous then all the people would be dead or in hospital not paying fines and collecting points!

So many people go on here about not breaking the law! there are many other laws but as the Police get no financial kick back they don’t both enforcing them hence drugs are so widely available and people are scared to leave their house at night in case they get mugged or burgled.

we have a country where they let people in prison for attempted murder out early to murder someone else for having nice Jewellery whilst having a nationwide network of 6000 Gatso's plus numerous mobile units to catch people going a few miles an hour over a nominal limit set normally with no regard to the current road conditions, frequently located where to catch most people but not with in 50 metres or so of a crash site.

The country where reading out names of soldiers who died serving our country in Iraq gets you arrested but if you stand on a street corner and claim to represent any religion except Christianity and call for the country to be over thrown and Our Soldiers to be blown up by terrorists in Iraq nobody does any thing!

We now live in the nearest thing to a Police State we have had since World War Two and why? Because they can!

The above is so indiciative of the simplistic hyperbole and hysteria that relates to speeding issues and its enforcement these days. Christ they way you exaggerate and scaremonger wont shock me to hear you saying being 10mph over the speed limit causes cancer or something equally horrific next. Get some perspective and calm down - there are currently far greater public safety issues than speeding but these are sidelined or completely ignored [did they ask me to see my insurance or MOT for my ZERO-hazzard-caused-marginally-over 3 points? NO! And individuals are 11 times more likely to be involved in an accident if they are the type not to have these...]. I so wish I had been breathtested [just in case] once in 20years - but nope NEVER...

Speeding really is 99.5% of the time a non issue [172mph coppers agree...] - but then I'm sure you wont agree with that and will want a good flogging, ban, ID tagging and chopping off of the right foot after two warnings...

Sadly your aproach is so indicative of the current malaise in society that wants to ban everything or lock everyone up. Rather fascist attitude for my tastes really - particularly as it is subjectively getting worse out there and as deaths increase despite the proliferation of these 'panacea' draconian discretion free devices and their enforcement.

Anyone who has in excess of 6 points and doesn't MAKE SURE they are always within the speed limit is a bit of a doughnut if you ask me. I'd be doing 30 everywhere in built up areas and 65 on the motorway if I was in that position and wait the 3 years for it to come down.

I'm afraid if you have 13 points and then you get caught, u really are a class 1 idiot.

Merry Xmas!
