SUBARU TO OVERHAUL IMAGE IN £7M DRIVE
#61
IMHO:
The car is a car for individuals and mainly for those who have a good mannered interest in high performance saloons.
We all have different backgrounds and outlooks on the world and that is good.
I too have my doubts over flammer kits, banging boogy music with windows down driving down the high street. This is a situation , a cult that prevails at the moment in all cars, seems undisirable to me in an Impreza.
I am old by many peoples opinion at 52 (!).
I drive an Sti V3 for weekend racing with a host of mods everywhere 'cause that's what I like doing as it is my car, paid for by me.
I am a Director for Design Engineering with a 20 year old petrol headed daughter. Am I a Coffin Dodger (what IS that?), am I a chav (I think I know what that is), no, just a car enthusiast with no real bias against young chav snobs who like to insult people on Snet.
Live and let live, treat people as you would wish to be treated yourself!
Oh, and my next Company Car might well be a Legacy Estate (to tow the Sti to the reace track) but a Comfort version of the Impreza sounds good to me!
This is what I do with mine:

What makes the cars unique any more? Not a lot I'm afraid. This is but one step in a large number!

I personally dont give a toss what image Imprezas have.
I have a comany car for work and shopping trips etc, then I have my Impreza for weekends/events/meets/shows and general enjoyment.
My scoob has a loud exhaust, a flamer kit, a VTA dump valve, plus more "so called" CHAV bits I guess.
I track and 1/4 mile my scoob, which alot of folk don`t. Thats their choice, but I like to think that my cars being appreciated for its speed, power and handeling, much more so than the completely mind numbing routines it gets put through by people like PS Lewis who never even get the turbo blowing
Live and let live or die knowing you`re a ****

Im a 28 year old Tank Commander, on my second scoob now. A 02 STI Type RA. I go to shows and meets if im back in the UK.
The rest of the time I like to put her though her paces around the Nürburgring, on as many weekends as I can afford or be there for.
People who know me have seen my old 01 WRX at shows. Yes it was stickered up. My version of a football shirt. Nothing wrong with supporting your favourite team. Not to everyones taste, but if its in blue with the gold wheels your half way there already.
We know that these motors are more available these days. Due to the **** falling out of the value on them.
Its not just an Impreza problem either. Same with Evos and many other performance cars. Its a fact of life. I think if you can´t deal with it you have to buy something else.
A good friend of mine owns an evo9 340 who has become disillusioned with evo ownership as the older models are becoming more available to shall we say a handfull of undesireables.
Personally I think he´s a bit daft for wanting rid of a nice motor because of this. Especially as we are in North Germany and these sorts of motors are rare as hens teeth Thankfully.
You could also argue the fact that there are to many anoraks that own these also. I would say in my experience that I´ve met more of these than "chav" owners. That said maybe I´m one of these anorak owners LOL
