yeah, its got the main problem of the new engine sorted now at least, and i didnt pay a penny directly...
there is all kinds of things wrong still though, broken clips, missing bolts, cambelt cover not on right, damaged radiator, cracked expansion tank,, a plug thats been snapped and glued back together.
then we have the slight problem with the diff, apparently a know problem to do with harmonics, makes a hell of a noise at certain speeds.
but apart from all that everythings tip top....
still the saga continues, i wont give up...
cheers

Regarding the diff, they do make a bit of a whine at certain speeds, presumably thats what you're experiencing?
Presumably you're told the dealer about the other things that are wrong?
Are they not going to fix them?

Adrian Hogg at IM told me about the problem, i thought it was the windows, then someone from here sent me an internal memo from within subaru uk. the mounts on the diff will be changed im told..
as for the other stuff, when i got the car back, i had it 8 hrs before smoke and steam poured from the vent and the shut lines. took it to AS PERFORMANCE, where Alyn did an inspection on it before being recovered for the second time from his place.
i cant go into to much detail at the moment a i dont want to hamoer my case against them.
4 reasons were given for the failiure, non of which made sense.
case continues...

Car looks nice... Soz to hear about all the problems you've been having?!
Is there nowhere else that you can take the car to get fixed rather than the dealer it went to before??
Were you trying to sell this a wee while ago or am I imagining it??
Cheers,
Grant

yeah, i made a bit of a mistake, i wanted to go for the STI, but at the time, the finacial state, or should i say the future looked a little uncertain, but things that meant to happen didnt and i would have been able to go for it as it happens.
But, i made my desision and im just going to stick with it for now.
I may hold out for the EVO X yet, or might go for the new spec C.
i must admit though, after the last month or so, the X is looking more and more likely lol
The car from now on will be going to Gilesgate who was the supplying dealer. Alan who own the place seems a really decent guy. He was the main reason for returning to the subaru, looked at a few places, GMD included, and after speaking to those guys, its a wonder they sold any cars, they really dont know what they are selling, they can tell you there fast, there better than EVOS because there cheaper to run (CRAP) and that a SUBARU PROVEN WARRANTY is the same as a manufactures one (LIES).
Hence the sale being made at gilesgate.
There car only went to GMD as Modail recovers cars to the dealer nearest the home address of the owner, or so i was told at the time.
Never mind, i will get sorted someway or another
Cheers for al the comments

After reading about your problems adn seeing your username.. I wouldnt think it wise to bet against a return to an Evo for you!!
Best of luck with the rest of your Impreza ownership.

i dont know how i ende up with this user name TBH. i have been a member on here for years and i have never owned an EVO yet.
When i went looking for a new car after the FTO, i went to drive the EVO, MR FQ300, it was fast, but then getting back into the subaru, listening to that flat 4 again, took me back to the classic i owned and im back again lol
i would take a scoob over the evo any day, its the customer service, the dealings with IM and the repairing dealer that have really made owning this car a major headache for the last couple of months.
im happier i have it back though

I know what you mean mate.. the Flat4 is VERY addictive, I was close to getting rid of the Celica when I was offered a deal with a very very nice Impreza..... But I just managed to resist!!

Evolution - whats the story with the resonnance thing - I've had something like this on my MY05 Sti - Dealer said it was just down to stiff tyre walls causing a lot of noise - I get a really noticable humming when decellerating on smooth tarmac
Is this what you get ??

hi
yes this is what i get and the thing about the tyre walls sounds like crap and the dealer hasnt got a clue how to fix it, or in fact what it is and really isnt bothered.
i had to go above the dealer and straight to IM. You can do the same, will send you the contact and you can take it from there...
i was told it isnt a failing diff, its simply a harmonics problem that CAN be cured
