Track notes
Welcome everyone to Track Master’s Blast at Goodwood. We’ve now run six hugely enjoyable and successful track days at the classic circuit, and whatever the weather does on the day, I’m sure this event will be as good as previous events. We are expecting around 22 cars on the day, covering a vast range of marques and models so there will be plenty to keep you interested.
Our aim is to ensure that you have a fabulous day in the safest possible environment. So to ensure your safety and the safety of others, you will find below / attached a set of rules in relation to how the day will be run, what you need to do in advance, and what’s expected of you on the day. Please read and digest these rules carefully in advance, and ensure you bring with you everything you will need such as your driving license.
If everyone abides by these rules, then not only will we be able to get through the formalities of sign on and driver briefing efficiently, but you will then have the maximum amount of track time and enjoyment on the day itself.
Day’s Format
• 08:30 Briefing
• 09:00 Track Opens (Groups in Morning until 12:30)
• 12:30 Lunch
• 13:30 Track Opens (Open pit lane)
• 17:00 Track closes
Goodwood Track Driving Rules
Important to all Driver and Passengers (you will need to sign on the day stating you understand the rules)
All drivers must hold a valid driving licence for the vehicles they intend to drive; all drivers should produce their driving licence during sign on. Driving will be permitted by experienced unlicensed persons of 17 years and over provided they are accompanied and supervised by an ARDS qualified instructor and the organiser made aware.
Drivers Briefing
All drivers and passengers (participants) must attend a safety briefing before taking to the circuit. All participants must follow these rules and complete the declaration and agreement on prior to proceeding on track at Goodwood.
Accessing the Circuit
Enter only via pit lane exit, one vehicle at a time, having obeyed lights or signal from a marshal. Check for other vehicles on the circuit and keep right until well clear of pits.
Exiting a Circuit
Only leave the circuit at the pit lane entry. Signal your intention to leave the circuit on approach to the chicane, using indicators. Continue signalling until you have exited the circuit.
Stopping on the circuit
Only stop in case of mechanical breakdown or a signal to do so from a marshal. If forced to stop on the circuit or a run-off area, try to park as safely as possible (far from the track and preferably behind a barrier). Use hazard warning lights. If safe to do so, driver and passenger should move behind safety barriers or obey the marshal’s instructions.
Overtaking
Use mirrors frequently to check for faster vehicles approaching from behind. Vehicles must overtake only on the straights. Only overtaking on the left is permitted. If a faster car approaches behind, move to one side of the circuit, ideally using an indicator light if possible to signal your intention to do so, and allow the faster vehicle to pass.
Only overtake when the car in front has acknowledged your approach and moved to the right hand side of the circuit.
Flag Signals
Yellow Track hazard. Slow down. Be prepared to stop. No Overtaking.
Red Hazard- session stopped. Return to pits, acting as for yellow flags.
Chequered Session over. Complete the full lap and return to pits.
Striped red/yellow Beware of slippery substance on track
Black You MUST slow down and return to pits at end of lap. Report to track steward-either you’re breaking rules or vehicle is faulty.
Circuit conduct
Racing or driving too close to other vehicles is not permitted. Timing is not allowed. Please also try not to circulate closely to another vehicle (within 100m) as it increases the likelihood of a noise breach.
Photographs
Photography at Goodwood motor circuit is prohibited unless for personal purposes only. You are permitted to photographs that you take only on the strict condition that they are not used for promotional or commercial purposes. You must have the consent of Goodwood before hand.
Noise Restrictions
Any vehicle to be used on the circuit must pass a noise test on the day. Noise should not exceed 98dbs at three quarters maximum revs when measured at 0.5 metres from the exhaust and 96db, measured at 10m drive by. Refunds will not be offered should your car fail..
Drivers, riders and passengers must:
• Read and sign the track driving rules before taking to the Track
• Wear a wristband denoting the Track Driving rules and declaration have been read and signed.
• Wear a suitable helmet
• Its is recommended that arms and legs are covered in cars
• Wear a seat belt
• Not drive while under the influence of alcohol or intoxicating drugs
• Not smoke in the pits or on the circuit
• Not eat/drink or chew gum on the circuit.
Remember
• Do not carry more than one passenger in any vehicle
• Do not bring animals onto circuit or aerodrome
• Please supervise children carefully
• Do not exceed 15mph on any service road or in the paddock
• Refuel only in the designated area
• Cold tyres have less grip, so drive carefully for at least the first lap
Warning
Motor sport may involve the risk of injury or death. You must read and accept the above items and declaration before being allowed to use the circuit.
Young Passengers
Track days are for some family outings, the opportunity for family members to proceed on track is good. It has been decided that young passengers may only proceed on track with drivers who have attended previous events.
Young passengers may proceed on track only with the drivers and guardian/parents consent. All passengers must be able to place feet firmly on the front of the foot well, safety belt fit securely and helmets fit.
The organiser recommends that no children under the age of 12 should proceed on track.

Instructors will need to jump out of one car into your car. I would recommend you wait in the rear of the pit lane line up, that will place you near the Marshals office. Remember Instructors are available during the afternoon as well should you need a little more advice on track or off.
