Pretty much ALL religions want to convert non-followers to their way of thinking.

Bored of racial issues, all you ever see/hear on the TV.

Racial integration works - yeah right.

Yes as Dracoro says, religions always think theirs is the right way and feel that others should convert to thier version of the faith.

I can't think of a religion that preaches murder as such, but they are in general prepared to defend themselves against what they see as attack by others. Bit like defending your own country really.

It has been said often enough, it is not correct to say that the religions are the cause of murderous conflicts, but its more the unprincipled people who get themselves into positions of power and use the religions to con the easily led into committing atrocities in the name of the religion all for their own ends of course

It is quite right to say that we need the good religious leaders to speak out against these acts which are being committed in the name of their religion.

Islam is clearly very at odds with Western society, but most other religions generally intergrate well - Hindu's, Jews etc.

Its no coincidence that you get muslim and non-muslim areas everywhere. Muslims start moving into an area, and the non-muslims move out. The Government is always pushing for intergration, but if the two groups dont get on you can only push them together so far.

I dont really see what the solution is either to be honest - you could ban islam and make them intergrate, but we know that would result of that would be. Maybe they can just live alongside the rest of the population in peace.

So I suppose in AsifScoob world everything is rosy, and everyone gets on, we just ignore the race riots, kidnappings, beheadings etc - just totally unwilling to face up to facts?

LOL

Never said it was rosy did I? Quite the opposite if you read some of my posts.

What I don't subscribe to is your view - which is bordering on the hysterical.

Chill out.

How many Christians have been killed by Muslims?

How many Musilms have been killed by Christians?

The article is badly written, badly thought out, nationalistic, American garbage.

FFS the worlds biggest terrorist is Christian and is in charge of the worlds most powerful country.

Do you mean those actual words or Ezekiel 25? Ezekiel is certainly there, but only has 17 verses. It certainly doesn't match the Pulp Fiction quote, but there are "similarities".

******* RELIGION. I can't believe people actually believe in it, I really can't.

Ok it gives people hope and a better way of living (in theory) but FFS if Allah was so fcuked off with the Infidels he'd kill them himself; after all, he's God isn't he?

A Belgian Catholic priest in 1927 called Georges Lemaître.

Not sure if "invented" is the term, more suggested the hypothesis

So, slightly back on the subject. Can any muslims on here tell me if what Kyle quoted are actually passages from the Koran?

Correct answer.

and

Agreed. My excuse is: English is not my first language And inventions are almost never the work of one man, obviously.

Just wanted to point out that not all religious people are fruitcakes or blinkered or "dumb". The fact that I'm an atheist by reasoned choice doesn't change that.

But hey, result. Rik thinks it is funny. Partly because of the "Belgian" link I assume, partly because it was a person who was pretty much a Catholic. And partly because he learned something, one can hope.

You do realise the book is on sale, quite freely, don't you ? If you can not be bothered - but then again, why bother to post your usual diatribe again and again -, can I suggest the book that Susan Armstrong wrote about the Koran ? Yes, you can google her.

May I bluntly suggest you do your own research ? Or at least are aware of the many "apocryphic" versions of the Bible, Koran, and Torah ? Especially on "da Net" ?

Apart from that, I was not off topic at all.

I did a search. There didn't seem to be a one to one match with what I found. Part of the difficulty is that translations from the Koran (Koran/Quran - which is the accepted spelling in English?) are often imprecise because there may not be a literal translation for the original arabic writings.

For example the word "jihad" is often translated into English as "holy war". However that is misleading. Another translation which would often be more accurate is "to strive for", usually meant the individual should strive for something inwardly, not wage a holy war on someone else.

I have neither the language skills nor the theological background to say whether those passages quoted are accurate, but what I found suggests the translation was perhaps crude and maybe reflected a more radical translation which fitted the author's aims with that article.

You are quite right about the translations. Even if you would be fluent in modern Arabic, you would not be able to read the original 1300 year old version. Actually, not many people alive today would be able to. Which is a problem on it's own. As officially, you are not supposed to read translated versions if you are a true Muslim.

I may have made this point before, but according to the people in the know, you would not be able to determine if the Qur'an (alternative spelling :P) talks about "virgins" or about "grapes"...

Jihad, is easier though, in that you have the "small" Jihad, which indeed means "striving to do good" and the "big Jihad" meaning "defending Muslims against attacks from outside".
