Given what you know about the hardware, how easy it is going to be to exploit each respective consoles capabilities, which will have the better games and so, is the XBOX 360 a must buy or would you wait for the PS3?
The XBOX360 is over-hyped - the golden rule is never by a next gen cnosole straight after release because the games are weak. It'll take them 6 mnoths to come up with something decent!
I'm in agreement with PG - I'd much rather play with a large pair of breasts, replete with "tank starter button" style nipps, preferrably of the femaile variety.

My personal feeling is that Xbox will win in the US, PS3 will win in Japan and the Euro market will be the real battleground.
John Carmack (creator of Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, Quake etc etc etc) wrote in his blog that the PS3 was 20% more powerful than the Xbox 360 but that there were only 2 software companies on the planet that could write code that would take advantage of the extra power and neither of those were gaming companies. He reckoned that the Xbox only needs to be 20% easier to wrote code for to win and in his opinion it was about 50% easier.
If a genius like Carmack is struggling to use all of the PS3's capabilities, most developers have no chance.

I think Sony will need to do a lot of catching up if they want to win this race.

Apart from Halo and PGR (originally for Dreamcast) I don't personally think the XBox had anything amazing in it's gaming lineup. The cross-platform games were generally better than the PS2 because of the newer hardware.
The PS2 has so many that people are almost blase about them.
Ico
Ratchet & Clank
Jak and Daxter 1+2 (but has now turned into crap)
GTA series
GT3
God of War
MGS
Plus the innovative novelty things that are great for groups - Buzz, Eyetoy and Singstar.
BTW, I'm no Sony fanatic, I have all consoles and will buy all the new ones including the Nintendo.

Xbox 360 out first, and much cheaper. No price confirmed yet for PS3 but looks like £400 or thereabouts last time I heard. Sony could price themselves out of it if they not careful.
LOL @ ScoobyVirgin. I could turn this into a piccy request post, but that would be pointless.
Just think about how selfish you're being to your partner!
Women are always complaining about their men not being attentive enough "you love that bl00dy console more than me!"
Well there is a solution - Friggemal Orthopedics "Attagirl kneepads" with optional tray helmet for the remote/beer/game controller...

As for decuiding between an XBOX360 or PS3 - thats silly. I find a game I want, then I buy the console that plays it.
Does anybody have a link to a demo film of a PS3 and X360. i.e the films they run at exhibitions showing the wonderful graphics?
Oh and whilst I remember anyone got a link to that GT4 PS2 lap of the nurburgring?

I'm certainly not having a go, but to say, "Hmmm. That game looks great. £40? OK. Ahh. I'll need the console as well"

So a £40 entertainment investment becomes £350-400

Doesn't make sense to me

Best of luck to you though!!
Dan
I have to agree, I bought the Xbox for Halo and PS2 for Gran Turismo alone, and since owning the XBOX and PS2 I would happily do the same again if XBOX360 and PS3 offer suitably great games. Why restrict yourself to either, if you can afford both? It's just like an extension of brown or black shoes - if you can only afford one pair, decide which colour suits best, or if you can afford it? both!
I saw an XB360 in Best Buy recently, and have to say that the CoD game made the graphics look awesome! I'm a driving game person in the main though, so I can wait

I will buy a 360 just for Halo3, I bought my Xbox just for Halo/H2 after all.
Not being a huge gamer, I dont care if the 360 has 300 titles & the Ps3 has 400, as long as the major titles are there for the 360, it has my vote.
If there is a killer game only for the PS3 then I will buy a PS3, simple as that.

I can't believe that someone said Xbox 360 will have a poor starting lineup. OMG PGR3 is more or less just PGR2 with bells on. Not a great thing I hear you say , but it's fact that PGR2 is still one of the most played live games after two years. Call of Duty 2 is a pc port but looks very good and perfect dark looks good but I'll wait and see ( it's on my pr-order list)
Don't get me worng I'm no MS fanboy I own a PS2 for the GT games but other than that my xbox with live wins hands down
