Is this in an urban location? If so, you might have a great opportunity to enlist the help of a local school. You could approach a junior school, for example, and run a competition for the kids to name the building. The winning name would win a small prize and a certificate for the kid with the best idea.
Great for the kid, great feeling of well-being for you, and good publicity for the development group who are doing the flats. You could even get a bit of free press publicity as part of the competition, and this in turn will help the eventual sale of the properties therein. Everyone's a winner.
(Or you could just go with the best suggestion from Scoobynet).

anyway, we're looking for a name to reflect the nautical influence and i'd be grateful for any suggestions. the name doesn't have to be a ship name, but reference to the theme would be good
there are a few obvious ones we have ruled out but i'm interested to see if anyone comes up with a good name (if you do and we use it, maybe we'll send you the champagne instead of "christening" the building with it )

...and we nearly have a name. we have a shortlist, but thought i'd provide an update (in case anyone is interested!??)
