Would you come along?
Thats the one Dom
I remember there also being a really cool place where they did these little sand things, like pictures. And of course, there is the quintessential stick of rock...I would also hazard a guess that there is one or two rather tasty pubs knocking about too?!
Could this be a weekender? My Auntie has a cottage on the the coast of the Ilse of Wight, near Yarmouth I think

1. Postings made in the members only section of the SIDC forums should remain there. Lifting them and posting comments in other forums is very bad form. Kindly amend.
2. thanks chuck (5th post down) for your common sense approach. Wish others shared it.
3. Whats all this "I'm an SIDC member therefore I can get flyers sent out" rubbish ?
IF (in caps for a reason) there is an event which will be of interest/benefit to SIDC members then we will consider producing flyers. Its not a right.
I have to be honest I'm probably one of the most laid back people I know
but basically although the SIDC sent out flyers and provided some reimbursement for food for members we seem to have had a kicking over Bentley !!! And suzyq's post on one of the threads - nothing short of outstanding, for a 4yr old at least.
My PERSONAL (ie not the club's view) is that if Bentley was so good there would be tonnes of interest. We used to get invited and attend but due to lack of interest it was dropped. I've seen more people out in Ander's local than posted attendance at Bentley so there you go
I have to be honest - so far all I've seen is a great deal of taking and no giving.
My last point (request) can we please get off this anti-sidc rubbish ? When I read stuff like this you are demeaning my efforts. And since I put in loads of time I take that as a snub. So don't.

My fault. I started the SIDC thing again as a comment and look what we get!!!!!!
Marcus, I meant SIDC support (regional organisers,Stand for merchandising and a banner or two as well as the flyers).
The committee don't have to organise it just turn up if they feel like a day in the sun
Venue: Bentley was great but trying somewhere new is a good idea. I'll keep 'em peeled.
Now, I'll get me coat!
Iain.

**********this stops here************
Ok, Ok, Ok.
Now we are getting personal and people will start taking things to heart (this appears to have happened). This is not a club that I have ever seen (The SIDC) any malice or aggro developing between members, however it appears that now this has become the case in this debate.
Suzy you ask "why bother with you all?"...Ok, forget us, I am sure (please don't take offence) that we will do the same in return if your going to insist on being like that!
I am a friend of Lee's, and hes not spiteful one bit...so he meant no harm!
Lets finish this here, no more rowing and aggro- After all, its Friday and the suns out, I also will point out that after all we are all going to be dead for years!

Lee,
sorry about the cross post, my apoligies, won't happen again.
As for the flyer thing, my misunderstanding then
I started the first thread to ask about doing the bentley event again, it went into chaos, I start a similar thread and it goes the same way.
I was trying to setup an event, which some might be interested in, and thus I'm trying to gauge opinions, which some have expressed, which is good.
Dyney's points about SIDC involvement are kinda what I hope will happen, eg; stand, application forms, whatever, just so the club gets some publicity.
To be honest, I feel like I should not bother to try and setup bentley for next year, as it seems to cause more grief on these threads than it is worth.

care to enlighten me as to why it sucks? not having a go or anything, just want to know why, and what you'd like to see.[/quote]
Hi Markus
Just my personal feelings but that is the second time I have been to bentley and apart from talking to a great bunch of people, bentley it self sucks.....
I am mean you pay £3.50 each (if it was per car I wouldn't mind so much) to park your car in a field and then walk around more scoobs, which I could of done for free if I went to a local meet... Then what is actually there????? A shed of old motors which I must say walking round my garden looking at bugs is more interesting.. Then you have the Posche lot ...less said the better about them..
I like to go to events because I like driving not parking up and sitting on the grass with my tea n cakes.... Now the IOW thing sounds interesting as there will be a good drive involved then hopefully something to do when we get out there and then a good blast home......That is what I joined a driving club for ..... to drive.......

You are not an SIDC member, so would not know the regional organisation structure.
And it would be very easy to read someone's post and think that all we do is track events. We do hold these, because they are very popular and you will rarely find less than 100 Imprezas at such an event, split between participants and spectators.
We have 1 person who organises track events and there are only 4 more track events for the entire next 6 months, excluding John Stewarts Knockhill events, but including Trax 2001 which is a massive social meet with 3x15 minute track sessions during the day.
<B>There are 21 Regional Organisers for social events.</B>
These guys give up a lot of time and work very hard organising social events, throughout the country. If you read the events section in this bbs and the SIDC bbs, there are social (non track) events taking place every weekend.
<B>Shock News...</B> Subaru drivers will not be invited back to Bentley next year. Basically someone, who shall remain nameless, made a complete and utter nuisance of himself by calling the Porsche club RO almost everyday for the month before the event. Peter Skelton has decided that no event is worth the grief he got. The SIDC member who released Peter Skelton's mobile number feels deeply embarrased, both in the SIDC and the Porsche owners club, for how this turned out. It was the talk of the meet, amongst Porsche owners and maybe why Ronnie got the brunt of some ill feeling.
Markus, what I really don't understand is why you have posted elsewhere that you wish to raise some points at the AGM "in front of the members". Considering your relentless tirade against the SIDC, and the incredible abuse from your girlfriend, why would you want to pay another 20 quid and re-join?
You have made it quite clear, through virtually every one of your posts over the past few weeks, that <B>the SIDC offer nothing for you</B>. To try and harness some of your enthusiasm, we asked you to be the SIDC Social Events Secretary. You declined. You have since set up your own "Subrew" club website. I have looked at it and it is very good.
<B>We accept that we cannot please everyone, all of the time, despite the concerted efforts of 7 committee members and 21 regional organisers.</B>
Why don't you just concentrate your efforts on getting your like minded "Subrew" friends to attend your regular meetings at Bentley Park and Drusilla's zoo, without mentioning the SIDC?
As Dom said, its getting very boring.

In addition,
Why would I want to rejoin, well, I may, possibly next year, want to, shock horror, do a trackday or two. Yes, i know I am very po faced in saying that, given my pro-social event and anti-trackday stances. I'm not against trackdays, far from it, I loved brands hatch last year. My personal opinion is that a track does not make for a good social event, but then, what is a good social event.
So, the reason I want to renew membership is for possibility of doign a trackday, though I feel, and I'm sure you're prove me wrong, that I'd not be welcome, give the views I have expressed.
