Spot on that man I caught a guy mugging a young girl of 17, for her mobile and bag, You don't think for one second I'm gonna stand there and let the scum bag get away with it do you?, So I told him to turn it in he then had the ***** to walk up to me threw a punch at me, splitting my lip, I just said to him mate you should not have done that, well come on then he said, if you think your hard enough, I hit him so hard, (my uncle taught me to box) and he hit the ground, and I picked him up by the neck and battered the living F**K out of him, sadly the young lady had to go to hospital and I had to go to court the police got him, and he had to pay me £150 damages, but I was so angry, I wanted to kill the Bas***D.
Cheers

well done!!

Sadly, it probably made no difference at all (apart from making everybody else feel better!! ) - the kid(s) will still be *******.

One very good reason why I don't use Public Transport - I'd lose my cool too quickly

On the point about the lad fighting back after the bloke seemed to have taken him by surprise with the first punch:

What punch (or strike) would you go for to take maximum benefit from having the first, surprise attack?

Straight punch aiming for the nose?
Headbutt?
Kick to the groin?

Better still, a quick finger flick to the eyes first to distract the ****** while lining up for the biggie.

Never punch - more risk of doing damage to yourself that to the intended target.

Strike under their chin with a left open palm driving up hard (99% of the time causes them to bite their tongue - literally!!!), quickly follow this by striking out with the leading edge of a flat right hand to the throat or windpipe.

I have always belived this would be viewed as minimal force and controlled aggression if charges were brought as opposed to launching at someone with fists and heads flying.

I am not a big bloke by any stretch of the immagination, but this has stood me in good stead on two or three occasions. Unfortunately the third time was on store detective giving chase to a shoplifter.... oops!!! It was an easy mistake to make your honour!!!

if the person had fought back in this case it would be self defence and the "goodie" would be going to jail. If he used some of the hong kong fuey stuff above, he'd be in jail for some time.

Go for the sensitive areas - throat, bo!!ocks, knees, nose, eyes, etc.. You don't need any fancy martial arts stuff, just basic self defence. Biggest thing is the confidence to do it and carry it through properly.

If you do strike someone in the throat it can kill them and I wouldn't fancy dealing with killing someone unless the life of someone else depended on it. I certainly wouldn't hit someone there just for smoking or being a w@nk on a train.

In the larger scheme, I find keeping yourself out of trouble is a much easier (and safer) stance to take. I've seen a few blokes (and hard looking blokes) try to give someone a slap and only ending up in ER themselves.

It's always as a last resort in my books.

Wise words. As much as the ****** probably deserved a slap, this was an ill-advised course of action by the gentleman concerned. He was under no physical threat from these idiots, nor was anyone else on the train. Evidently they were just behaving like w****rs and should he have left it at the verbal stage. Throwing punches is only going to risk escalation of an annoyance into a danger. Kudos to Ben for making a stand with him, but in doing so, he had been put into a potentially dangerous situation by someone else's "have a go" attitude.

Futhermore, if he'd have hurt the ******, I'd bet a dime to a dollar it'd be him that landed up in trouble with the law.

With the exception of self defence, it takes a bigger man to walk away.

NS04

BTW Having said the above, I won't deny that the image of some anti-social cocky **** getting a slap from Joe Public made me smile!

I absolutely understand why everyone has done what they'e doing. The really sad thing is that the state of policing and standards of behaviour are so low that we're turning into a nation of vigilantes.

And yes - people do pull knives on packed commuter trains - IIR there was a case a couple of years back where a guy go stabbed (and died) for asking someone to take their feet of the train seat. There was also a more recent case (this year) where someone was stabbed for asking a bloke to stop throwing food at him and his girlfriend on the bus.

That's the main reason I wouldn't get involved in something unless I actually saw someone getting physically attacked.

OK then so you'd keep letting someone chuck food at you on the bus? your involved whether you like it or not most of the time.... Some people have lesser tollerance to it though and stand up for themselves, just a shame sometimes though they come worse off for it

I was on my way into a French hypermarket with my empty trolley, when I heard shouting from the store entrance area, (I was in the mall attached to it).

I looked up and running towards me was a large black guy about mid twenties with an armload of jeans and boots, and a smaller white guy with the same, being chased by two store security type dudes.

All the French were just staring open mouthed, so I waited until the black guy was nearly level, then "accidentally" steered my trolley into him.

He did a double flip, stolen goods going everywhere, and landed on his face with an almighty splat Before he could get up, store guy one was on him.

The white guy looked over his shoulder to see what had happened, collided with the door frame, lost all HIS stolen stuff, went down in a heap, and store guy two got him.

Job done. My kids LOVED it!

respect for the guy standing up to them and to you for backing him.

I find on of the most shocking and stopping them in their paces first attack if you like is just a slap across the face.. there are so many nerve endings in the skin you are attacking the skin, with a punch you are attacking deeper and there are less nerve endings, you will do more long term damage but you save that for the second attack you want shock to grab their full attention.. also in court.. well I only slapped him.. not even a punch..

also always say sorry after each hit.. lol all witnesses in court will say you kept saying sorry.. lol

I know it was a serious subject, and I applaud your actions whole heartedly, but when I read that bit I just p*ssed myself! I'm giggling as I'm typing this... excellent and well done.

Oh, I got 'jumped' by a group of young wannabe's years ago - I was practicing Tae Kwon Do at the time (not especially useful for street fighting) but also used to spar against Wu Shu, Lau Gar and Karate opponents - so we used to swap moves. I was always ALWAYS taught the best thing to do in this situation is run. Who cares if they think you're a coward - you know you're not.

However, in this case... I couldn't run as they were in front - one loud mouthed toss-pot in my face and 4 others behind him. So I open handed the toss-pot in the side of the head (not safe I know) he fell sideways and I then pole-axed the little sod behind him, jumped over him and ran like buggery for freedom.

Yes, they chased, and no they didn't catch me. Sometimes you have to fight for what you think is right but it's always best to have an escape plan as well

No - I'd probably get up and move. The guy got killed for asking them to stop. Life is way too short and precious.

maybe all the chuck norris wannabes need to READ the original post:

5 kids, possibly under 16 are pissing about on the train, one of them lights up and gets a smack in the mouth.

the bloke in question (that did the wacking) is very lucky because in that situation he is more often than not going to either get beaten up or nicked.

while it may be all "yeeha" to give the guy some internet hi fives i cant see that "The bloke who got up before jumped out his seat, rushed towards him, and hit him in the face." was a very sensible thing to do - and anyone who would do the same is a tool imo

not because i feel for the kid, **** him, chuck him out the window for al i care - but his actions had a high chance of going VERY pear shaped and for what? he doesnt like smoke and rap?

if i had been in that group of kids (lets assume one of them had half a brain) i'd have had the bloke arrested for assulting my mate.

Tiggs, well said, overall. I did the exact same thing about 2 weeks ago, I cant rememebr the thread name but it was something about a wheelchair guy getting mugged but I mentioned some trouble I had which I had to grind my teeth and walk away from with the hope of living had anything got out of hand, as much as I would have liked to have clipped all of the round the ear the best thing to do was walk away, saying that though anything physical had happened I would have been in there like a, well I dont know what but I wouldnt have wasted much time making sure I was on the giving end of it all... not worth it half the time thou

In hind sight things could of gone badly yes and it was apparent that he had bitten off more than he could chew. That was my main reason for getting involved.

I am sure if he had of just ignored them they would of just been an annoyance and big irritation to everybody in that carriage. This guy obviously had decided enough was enough for whatever reason. Why should we all be intimidate by and simply put up with these sorts? There must have been fifteen to twenty blokes in that carriage and nobody did anything to let them know they were behaving in an unacceptable way - so he made his stand.

I still think he did good and if more people took action against these little thugs I am sure they would quickly learn to behave. Do nothing to sort them out early and then confront them when they are older, set in their ways, causing serious trouble and really hurting people – doesn’t sound like a good plan.

Anyway, I got a couple of mates together and we went out in the car last night looking for… only joking.

It's not just that, it's the whole attitude that goes with it. No one objects, so they get away with not respecting law and the general public. Fecking scum in my book, got what they deserved!
