French is a little iffy but it goes something like this:
Mr. Sarkozy asks for the expulsion from abroad implied in urban violences LEMONDE.FR The Nicolas Sarkozy, Minister of Interior Department, asked the prefects to expel all the foreigners condemned within the framework of thirteen last nights urban violences, "including" the holders of a it, residence permit announced, Wednesday November 9, with the French National Assembly. "I asked to the prefects that the foreigners, who are in situation regular or irregular, which was the subject of a judgment, are expelled without delay of our territory, including those which have a residence permit", has it précisé."Quand one has the honor to have a residence permit, the least which one can say they are that one does not have to be made stop causing urban violences", added the minister. Hundred twenty foreigners all, not in irregular situation, were condemned for this reason, according to the Minister of Interior Department at the time of the topical questions to the French National Assembly.

Should be a laugh. Beldjoudi v France, ECHR A-243-A (1992). Applicant had been brought to France from Algeria as an infant, retained his Algerian nationality, married to a Frenchwoman for 20 years. He was a professional criminal who had spent half his adult life in prison. There would have been severe obstacles to his wife accompanying him to Algeria. The Court found that deporting him was a disproportionate response to preserving public order (edit - and therefore a breach of his right to a family life under the Convention).
Fair enough, rioting may be more appropriate than his "individual" offences, but better hope none of them had married local girls.

It's serious stuff allright. (and I'm not even a lawyer
)
Yesterday I learnt that people were getting sentenced for 2 years effectively under the "speed justice" (help out a non native speaker here...) laws that were put in place for football hooligans...
Not saying that those people aren't responsible for their own acts, but 2 years in a procedure at 3:30 AM ?

Have to agree with most of the comments so far.
Glad the French are staying firm. I hate to say it, as it is very worrying, but this unprecedented MASS immigration into Europe is going to end very badly.
Massive wide scale civil unrest all for the sake of a percentage point or two of economic growth. I have nothing against controlled immigration, but things really don't seem to following the do-gooder ideologically obsessed dreamers plans.
This is just the beginning...

" Interior minister Nicolas Sarkozy has ordered the expulsion of all foreigners convicted of taking part in the riots that have swept France for 13 nights.
He told parliament 120 foreigners had been found guilty of involvement and would be deported without delay".
We need some of that over here!

They choose to live in another country, if they dislike it, find another country - or go back to base.
If they cause problems, oust them.
What would you do if some ****** came into your house and pissed on your cat??? You'd chuck him out.

Often, when people don't understand things they try to accuse others of being simplistic. It defers the accustaions of idiocy away from them.

Actually I am disgusted by your bile and hatred and you deserve no more than my first comment.

If you want to have an proper, civilised, but keen debate, start one, and I might join it. If you want **** responses, carry on with threads like this one.
Its quite simple!
agreed the thread is ****.
Very little knowledge of the actual issues and the complicated history of France.
Pick up some history books and you will realise France's record on race-relations and equality is a ****ing joke.

Your right. The problems are very complex and there isn't a simple solution. You know I am not a fan of this unprecedented MASS immigration into this country and don't think things are going at all to plan. I understand why people are getting frustrated. Despite this I can see that things are anything but clear cut and appreciate where you are coming from. Only time will tell as to whether or not the French have handled this properly. I too would welcome a decent debate on the issues.

Happy to debate as I said, but not on this thread. I have no intention of dragging it up from the bottom of the cess pit. Surprised you joined in this one to be honest.
One question for you though - but dont answer it here, what exactly do you mean by 'unprecedented mass immigration'? Europe and this country have had all sorts of immigration since the beginning of time, more in the modern era probably, but it is hardly 'unprecedented'.
Look forward to your answer - on another thread.

Regarding me joining this thread - I don't think rioting like this can be justified. The people responsible, and anybody rioting for that matter, do deserve a baton over the head in my opinion. No way can the French government give any indication that this is an acceptable way in which to get things changed. Would open the flood gates for similar scenarios across Europe. Hence the glad they are keeping firm.
Chat about the wider issues on another thread as you say. I'll look forward to it. I am sure I will learn something from it.
Ben
