I read a lot of post on here from people who are having problems with some of the cheaper tubular headers blowing gaskets, I've had a set of HKS for 3 years now without a single problem from the day they were fitted and as far as i know i have never read another post from someone who has had a problem with HKS headers.
You get what you pay for i believe.

Apart from the gasket issue, does the HKS header have anything more to offer? The way I see it, (from an HKS point of view) if you could get a manifold, exactly the same for a fraction of the price, surely they'd lower the price????? As the price is some what higher, this says to me that it is better and has more to offer. Would I be wrong in thinking this, and if so, why???
Sorry about all of the questions.........but thats what a forums for isn't it! lol

Just been looking at the HKS ones and i must say they are a nice pice of kit. I think if bought for the right price they will be ideal because it has pre fab pipe work and flange for an external waste gate

Mine look nothing like that as you say there look the wrong way round the collector should be on the other side.
Also i do not have the remote waste gate pipe on mine, never seen that on a set of headers either.
Found a picture.

I think a lot of people do avoid them because of the price but also because they are quite a large bore pipe they tend to create more lag than the smaller bore headers.

Hmmmmmmm.............This is interesting. Correct me if I'm wrong.....(I am not100% clued up).....but wouldn't a bigger bore be more free flowing helping spool up time? Or is it so big that it starts to loose presure?
Also, with the engine management and boost controler being used, wouldn't you be able to accomidate for the lag?
I'm not taking the pi$$, these are genuine questions.

The answer is it depends on the engine spec
A small bore header will keep gas speed up and so help spool up time, but in the other turn of the coin, if you have sufficient gas volume flowing through the headers e.g. a 2.5 litre, the small bore headers can become restrictive and so a bigger bore set of headers can be more beneficial.

im using hks on mine, i think it has a 2'' collector, did have the old gruppe-s on before they had a 2.5'' collector, but got fed up with them leaking, only using hks as i got a used set cheap, would'nt buy them new.

On the sequential twin-turbo only the primary turbo on the left is working up to around 4000 rpm. Thats why one collector has 4 inputs. Once the secondary is opened-up then both turbos work together so its then much like a convential bi-turbo with each turbo being fed mainly by 2 cylinders and very little flow through the cross-pipes. Hence the secondary collector only has 2 direct inputs.

I do have a question for you guys, do the Bremo's expand much when hot as when i have put them on they seem to be only 1 - 2mm from hiting the wheel but have not driven on them yet?

Calipers do look very very tight.
Rather than expansion I would consider more wheel deflection on hard cornering. Wheels are not perfectly ridgid.
That is a great engine. I am very 'green'!
Should the hot side of the turbo be well shielded/wrapped?
Very nice, and good luck!
Graham.
