Your not going to get 600bhp out of a gt30 imho.

I also dont think the spec will get a reliable 500hp.

I feel sorry for you mate...you come on this forum in the tech section to get some advice and all uv had so far is a bunch of guys either slating you or praising you.

Come on guys....those of you who are in the know...why dont any of you have the guts to write down a full spec list that WILL get him his 500BHP.

Put ur money where ur mouth is

Its a possibility that the guys that are making 500+ do not wish to impart their knowledge because it may be detrimental to their business.

Others maybe dont have the time.

Mate,

I think your bill @ 12k is rather optimistic. The HKS 2.2 stroker kit for the classic is nearly 4k alone, and that's without the con rods. (add in 600-800 quid more for H sections rods). I know, i've got one fitted.

Quality bit of kit, and should be bullet proof if put together correctly.

Good luck with the build.

That £1800 for a Power FC, fit and map must be wrong. I will ask them about that and see if they have made a mistake.

I spoke to Dave @ DP today and he dose not know were the £1800 price is from and says the must be a mistake. TBH if you look round you will find the PFC cheaper than you can get it from DP but Dave told me this is because he gets hi Apexi stuff from the USA and not Japan were most get there’s from. I don’t know why this makes it dearer but it dose. As far as I know he is one of only a few that are authorized Apexi dealers. One thing that is well worth the money from Dave is the Map and im sure the are lots of peep that will tell you the same.

David Wallis
The GT30R may not make almost 600bhp but 550bhp should be possible. This is not my opinion I am just passing on info from Grant @ AET Turbos who to a lot of peep is the TURBO DADDY. If you have any thoughts as to how to make a reliable 500bhp then I appreciate any help you think you may be able to give.

Joedesi
Cheers mate, nice one

P20SPD
That don't make sense to me mate. I won't pretend to know allot about tuning cars because I don't but I do know a bit about car audio. Now in my 6 or so years of fitting and selling car Audio some think became very apparent, The louder your car the more peep want to know what is in there, the more they know the more they want, the more they want the more I sell. Dose this make sense, surely the tuning business must be the same.

Daveo
It’s my fault for not saying but this car has already had money spent on it and some of the parts are already on. Im Glad that some one who knows just what some of these parts cost has posted. In total the car will have about 20k on engine alone. So you like the HKS stroker kit then? Any more info on pros or cons of the kit and what you run with it would be great. Cheers mate

(Be for some one feals the need to point it out i know im not the worlds best speller)

May be i miss heared then, sorry if i got it wrong but i was shure he said with changeing the impeller and a larger exhaust houseing it would be in that region. We could use the GT35R but on a 2.2 i was lead to belive that it would have to much lag

Steve,

To get 550bhp from a Subaru engine, out of a GT30R, you will need to wring it's neck, use either race fuel, or a good dose of methanol, or similar, and, or go to a very optomistic rolling road. A realistic 480-520bhp depending on engine/heads, etc'.

Cheers mate, nice one for the info. It's a good job we only want 500bhp out of it. TBH i take that back, don't care what it makes as BHP figures dont make a quick car as shuch and this is what he wants. Look at Japfest, RC's evo with over 1000bhp and only 10.4 1/4 to Andy F's 700bhp and 10.2 1/4

Didn't you notice your competitors selling the exact same spec audio etc?

If you have spent a lot of time and money coming up with a solution to your customers liking and that produces the results.. why come on here and list that spec for everyone else to see and more importantly for you to take to a company that are unable to come up with 'said' spec themselves?

If the company you take the car too is unsure and therefore you have ended up having to ask on here then surely the car is with the wrong company?

I like the reason for more expensive Apexi kit! that makes for a good reason to use them then.. they use a more expensive supplier for the same kit...

Al125,

If you "customise" the GT30R, 550bhp is possible, but that's something else.

Generally speaking, you will find that most of the "stroker" kits, and as far as I know, this includes HKS, actually give about 2122cc.

If the whole engine is well thought out, stroked engines work very well, but big turbo's can be laggy on them. This is fine for drag, or track, but can be hard work on the road.

I wouldn't go too big on the exhaust housing, they tend to give a relatively small bhp increase, but are several 100rpm laggier than the smaller size.

Mark.
