Yes Chris nearly there....

Type~~R has a couple of fitment issues to sort out.... I hope he can as he will have a great set of wheels for his scoob then

Also one of the local boys near me is in the middle of sorting an insurance claim after some kind person drove into the side of him smashing one of his alloys.... so if he gets the go ahead for a new set he is quite keen on them to.

I've a few questions for Julian in the morning and then hopefully I'll be able to update a few things.... running a GB is a heck of a way of improving your post count that's for sure.

2. TyPe~~R.... 18" subzero gunmetal with lip, possibly tyres.
3. Kael.... 18" Gunmetal Grey GRA Tarmac II with Kumhos.
4. Greggyg.... 18" GRA Tarmac II, Gold, with 225/40 x 18 Toyo T1-R tyres
5. Vas.... 18" Subzero Gunmetal with Lip and Toyo Tyres
6. Squadron-Leader - 18" GRA Gunmetal with polished face + Toyo tyres
7. Swiss Tony - 18" GRA Silver with Toyo's
8. Chris's scooby
9. Spider - 17" SDR, Silver Grey, Toyo 215/45/17

Rotawheelsuk

Thanks for looking into it. Fingers crossed the ET will be OK.... but I'll not be surprised if it's a no go. Wagons have a habit of doing this type of thing

Chaps.....

What tyre size are those of you getting 18" wheels thinking of? I've currently got 215/45/17's on my OEM wheels... so I guess I'll need the 225/40/18's ???

Im going for 215/35/18's. Shouldn't be much of a size difference at all from a 215/45/17 then......

Any chance that this could be worked into the group buy somehow?
17" with goodyear GSD3's

215/40/17 or
215/45/17

£700 is the best we can do - the tyres are £352 to the trade. /

No time limit Phil.... I'll just let it run a while as there is still quite a lot of interest.

That is not a million miles away from what I was expecting

I got a quote from www.mytyres.co.uk at £87.40 a corner coming to £349.60 for the tyres. Among friends thats exactly the same figure as you are quoting above, am just a little surprised you could not manage to get some sort of discount on them

I think I will be going for 215/45/17 as according to my calcs that will give me a 2.3% increase in rolling radius as opposed to a 1.2% reduction (215/40/17). I'll pick the comfier ride

For others wanting to look to their own calcs there is a nice little program here: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

LEt me see what I can do on that then! should be able to get a better price than my tyres... mind you that includes fitting.. so..

Re when the purchasers can get their rims.

As soon as we have ten, then people ring an order, we will get them straight out (if tyres are in) or otherwise we will send them out the following day.

We have stocked up on the sizes needed, however we sell 20 sets of wheels per day, so they soon run out.

It should look alright as sti suspension is lower then standard turbo to start with.

I'm just waiting for Julian to come back to me

Hopefully I will be number 10

EDIT: Please remember that you are looking for 215/45/17 XL as some people have been having problems with their tyres cracking after a few months

Quote "With Toyo's T1R 215/35/18 or T1R 225/40/18 it will be £760"

Will T1R 225/40/18 fit on a classic with out it rubbing? I currently running 215/45/17 with no problems, I am more concerned with the width moving up a size to 225 than the 40/18 bit, anyone run/know someone running this setup?

Simon

Rims will fit AOK on my Wagon with 215/35/18 tyres, but Julian has advised that the tyre size is a little undersized for the car. Something like a 215/40/18 would be better, but there's not that many manufactures out there making it.

Falken or maybe some sort of Yokohama is the best I've come up with so far.

I'll leave it up to the experts

God what a name Sorry

Is you classic a wagon or a saloon ?

Julian's advice to me with my classic saloon regarding an 18" is you need a 48 off set with a 215/35/18 tyre fitted ......

I don't think you will find 40's will fit on a classic with 18's you may find that they rub on the rear arches ( just to add I did borrow a set of 40's of a mate a couple of months ago and they rubbed very well ) after studying up I found 35 walls are the way to go purely on a classic scoob.
But as I've said earlier in the thread give Julian at rarerims a call and see what he advises, I think the guys on the thread that have contacted him will agree he know's his stuff.

Contact details are

http://www.rarerims.co.uk/

01363 777007

info@rarerims.co.uk

Just let Julian know it is in relation group buy.

It's a lot more complex than people realise Jason this alloy and tyre size combination... and I see what you mean I've just done a search and they are a little thin on the ground.
I hope you can get fixed up ok.... it's nice to see the wagon squadron running slick

Right let me make sure i got this straight!!

Classic WRX.

18's with a 48 offset are ok but would need 35's as 40's would/could rub, but 35's are hard to come by.

what option does that leave me please please help.. am desprate to get my name down.

Mick..... I spoke to Julian about yours this morning it's the same as mine in respect that if you choose to go 18" you need a 48 off set with 215/35/18
Tyres fitted. No problems with supply on those what so ever

The thread above from Squadron-Leader is in reference to his new age wagon
and that's a 215/40/18

Did you see my thread from a couple of weeks back ?
This may alleviate your concerns.....

Click_Me

At the end of the thread I've just added a few more pics showing my ride height and the way the tyres semi protect the rims.
Now my car is running very low I'm on -50 mm H&R lowering springs, the car in reality has dropped between 25-30mm from standard turbo spring height.
