I was busy explaining to the wife that they'd have to send them to me, along with a healthy discount for the hassle, when Julian phoned me.

He was very apologetic and explained that they were unable to be there today and they hadn't been able to contact me as they hadn't taken a phone number from me when I ordered. He had sent my wheels to Bristol along with lockers, nuts and centres and as a gesture of goodwill, he knocked a further £150 off the price, which more than covered my costs and made the wheels and tyres unbelievably cheap. It also cheered me up because I didn't have to go through the hassle of haggling.

All in all, I'm very happy as I appreciate that mistakes can happen and I felt that Julian dealt with me very politely and was more than fair.

Top group buy fella! I've just got to wait another couple of days for my wheels now........
Was a massive **** up on my part, not taking your number down Jeffrey,

Refund will be processed on monday for £150.

Wheels will be with you monday also

Many apoligies for your wasted journey, however a day out for £150 cant be bad

Fitted the wheels at the weekend - took less than two hours (plus an hour for polishing them all twice) - don't know why I was so scared!
Did just what you advised Si, took my time, jacked up one wheel at a time, covered the socket in tape, although I didn't have any issues with the width of the socket, I bought a deep 19mm socket to make sure there was plenty of clearance between the torque wrench and the alloys so I didn't scuff them.
Was gonna take a pic, but started snowing!

Gonna repeat the process next weekend when the lightweight black wheel nuts arrive - hopefully!

That sounds like a good job well done as with many jobs it's all in the planning you can see what I meant with all my fitting advice now then
pleased to see it went like clockwork

Wink Ongoing saga

So, I popped down to Crediton on Saturday, but my wheels had been sent to Bristol without my knowledge, all cool as Julian gave me a hefty discount for my trouble.

The wheels arrived via TNT today, only problem was they were unpacked(!) and two of them had serious scuffs on spokes and/or rim!!

Phoned Julian and he assured me all wheels go out packed - TNT had been in posession of the wheels for a week and although they claimed to have attempted to deliver them twice, I know my wife was here when they claimed to have tried AND they had the road name and postcode wrong.

I must say I was very cheesed off with all of this but.....both TNT and Julian were extremely helpful - Damaged wheels collected within four hours of delivery and Julian has sent a complete new set to me. Lauren from TNT in Exeter was a star and told me that Julian was a very good customer of theirs. I must say that although I only saw damaged ones, the wheels are bloody gorgeous (in Cadnium pearl - more goldy than I thought) and light too, I just can't wait to get a pristine set on my Scoob!

I'm fed up that this has been so problematic for me, but I work in customer relations for a large company and therefore recognise the value of good customer service. I also recognise that **** happens. I would like to say thank you both to Julian and Lauren at TNT in Exeter as they were extremely helpful and reassuring and made dealing with the problem much less difficult and frustrating than it could have been.

The upside of this delay is that I'll be getting 18s AND CompBrake 4 pots/330mm discs fitted at the same time and that is gonna be so cool.....

PS I recommend CompBrake too. Check their website, www.compbrake.co.uk they are much cheaper than better known stuff and it all looks top quality and gorgeous.

Yep I let Julian know that I had Bugeye STI he was sure that ET 48s would fit
Ive spoken to him and we are trying to sort something out. I know that the STI standard is ET 53 but he beleives this would make things worse if the spokes are already fouling the Brembos on ET 48. I'm gonna have a look and see if 5mm spacers will help. Other than that I'm buggered.
I wanted something in 18 black or gunmetal with a polished lip LOL I'm guessing there is not a massive choice accross the board.

He has offered me a full refund but I like these rims too much. There must be a way.

Aston

Edited to add :

If they can get a set of them in ET53 maybe we know someone close by with newage STI to confirm fittment. Just an idea

I spoke with Julian today and he explained that you were having some problems to say the least.... carriers are a nightmare we use them in work and they can really cause lots of stress for everyone.

I remember when I first had mine they just pack them with cardboard top and bottom with some strapping around... I was shocked but the driver at the time said that was by far the best way to send them as now they know what's in them because the tyre is visible they handle them with more care than if they were in a full box, you would never believe it would you.

Julian assures me that he will make sure all is ok.... bare with things and you will be well happy when they arrive and you see the quality, they will look great with your new brakes I'm afraid to click the link because I don't need new brakes here !!

Keep me informed Jeff please.... the GB may be over but not for me until everyone is fully happy.

Regards
Simon

Aston I'll give you a star for trying there !!
I've not seen what you have there in the flesh... are the spokes flat or curved in nature like the PFF7's are ??
Do you know where you can get spacers from... I've seen some about I'll track them down it you want me to ?
As I've said to Jeff above let me know what's happening I'm here until we are all happy then I'm off for a big sleep !

There must be someone in Devon that could possibly help on here somewhere... failing that I could try and get one of the guys near me to try one if that was best before they are shipped to Germany for you.

Thanks for your concern Simon, I reckon someone in a TNT depot whipped the packing off to have a look. The wheels were so nice I wanted to fit them anyway - I certainly don't have an issue with Julian.

You can cater for most eventualities until you bring carriers into the equasion then things are out of your hands for 24hrs until they land on your doorstep, fingers crossed for the next delivery

Jeff, I've just talked with Julian... can you give him a call and if you have any trouble getting through you can drop me your phone number to pass on.
There is no problem but he wants to double check on the delivery address, it sounds like you have both been trying to get hold of each other here. They want to make sure that these replacment wheels get to you with no problems at all.

Cool

Aaaaaargh!!!!! Why couldn't this have gone smoothly? The wheels are gorgeous and the deal was sweet, but it's been a pain in the *** so far.

However, Julian is a proper gent and has sorted me out in a more than generous fashion (I won't go into detail, but I'll have some spare wheels.....) and assuming that my wheels arrive intact on Tuesday, I will be a very happy man indeed. A remarkable feat given the circumstances.

I'll keep you updated, hopefully it'll just be one more post confirming that they're with me and all is well. Fingers crossed. Thanks once again for keeping on top of this Simon, we should meet up some time and I'll get the beers in!
