ENDURANCE KARTING CONFIRMATION
#31
Stef,
Silly question - Can you go if your not a SIDC member as I'm not.
If u can then I will ask a couple of mates at work if they want to go. One of them used to do a lot of karting.
Also can 6'4" fat blokes go or do they need special lardass seats?
Cheers,
P.
P.S. Just thought, do you need fancy racing suits? I have a saftey helmet. (full face. )

well thats poo then stef.
I have some mates and would like to come join the fun but we wont spend the dosh to join the SIDC just to come karting.
We need the dosh for other motorsport activities, cant justify getting my mates to join even if i did myself.
If you change your mind let me know and i will come show you how its done LOL

John.
It is not poo at all.
It is simply an event arranged for SIDC members to enhance the club's social activities, just like all SIDC track days.
If you want to take part in these you must be in the SIDC. Seems fair enough to me.
Nobody is saying you must join the club, but if you do it opens up a whole new world, so send your cheque for £20 off to the club post-haste!
There is nothing to stop us having an open event for allcomers at another time, which I will also gladly help arrange if necessary.

fair enough stef but you are doing it as a team event. If you said that one member per team had to be an SIDC member then that would make more sense to me.
I cant expect my mates to join a club so they can come have some fun with me now can i?
Its your event so you can set the rules but i bet you would have more response and a better fight if you changed your policy.
Dont forget scoobynet is not the SIDC web site and the majority of members of scoobynet are not SIDC members.

But the karting event has been organised as a SIDC event NOT a Scoobynet event so SHOULD be restricted to SIDC members. It also gives SIDC members who do not have Internet access a chance to attend a meet.

John.
It was actually not my decision to make it a complete members only event, but I have to agree with it .
I know Scoobynet isn't the SIDC, but it's a very good way of contacting loads of SIDC members in one hit.
Besides, we're nearly half-full before the flyer goes out to non-internet users so .
If we struggle to get the numbers, you'll be the first to know.

Does this mean SIDC members are above the rest of us? sounds as though some people think its a club for the elite Scooby Driver (NOT). IF the SIDC attracts people like Phil Hammond you can keep it, hahaha

(Not wishing to tangle horns with such a virile man as Harj )
I think you've missed the point sir!
This is an event for those of us sad subaru owners who wished to join an owners/drivers club. Obviously such an erudite man as yoursel' would not want to asociate with us anoraks & will therefore know to stay away.
Otherwise..
PREPARE TO BE BEAT

I was just making the point that if the event is organised by, and for, the SIDC then all SIDC memebers should be given first refusual before opening the event up to others.
Anyway, who said anything about SIDC members being above the rest - I may of got a little heated about the subject that was all, still there is nothing like a little debate!!!
Chuck, I agree with you completely.

I can't see what the problem is.
This is one of the perks of joining SIDC.
Stef has already said he will help organise a general event open to all, so all you non members can come to that one.

Whats wrong with a club doing exclusive events?
This is a case where Grimes fear of the internet is justified IMHO. Through this BBS, which is frequented by a minority of SIDC members (in my experience), half the places have already gone. If non SIDC folks were allowed to participate I have little doubt that SIDC members who don't access this BBS regularly would not even get a look in.
It also adds value to the membership and helps justify the £20 the members pay.
Are you too good for the club Harj? Or is little Aarron just spoiling your sleep?
Regards
Chuck
PS Stef, sorry for the off-topic nature of my post. Here I am contributing to the very thing I dislike about the current nature of the BBS, too much argueing for the sake of argueing!

Puff No Friends,
It just seems as though the SIDC sometimes wants to do their own thing and not allow anyone else in, ive been told im an SIDC member but that means nothing to me.
Don't try and pick a fight with someone younger and bigger than you even a better driver than you LOL
Harj...

Harj.
Your point is the same as saying that if you were to breakdown in your car, the AA should come and get you even if you weren't a member!
Stop winging like a hussy and pay the £20, or forever hold your peace.
And if anyone round here is 'elitist', it certainly isn't the SIDC!
