nova 16 valve !!!! lurker 1
i was just reading about your ****box i also had a ****box nova 2.0 16valve redtop which power to weight ratio s would be better than a gti 6 as the vaux -
and pug engines produce similar power but the nova weighs less than a coke tin.
the point im gonna make is my brother had a wrx wasnt a sti we both had a similar situation were as the nova was in front and the scooby was behind only i was driving the scoob and a mate was driving the nova on a straight road with a roundabout at the end we had a good run down the road but the scooby had the pull on the nova before we hit the roundabout then proceeded to pull away as we carried on through the roundabout .
the scooby was standard on 97unleaded before anybody asks as for the nova which was my own car it had manifold exhaust filter cos cast head kent cams etc out of a cop car !
im not sayig you didnt tame that particular scoob im speakin from my own experience the nova was quick and i had put it against gti 6s and came out on top aswell as pug 205 swith a gti 6 plant and it couldnt tame any scoobys
that i new off.
that scooby owner should hang his head in shame for driving like apussy !

Though 12 pages of comedy would attempt to desperately contradict that "fa

Look (from parkers.co.uk):
Car Year CC/Cyl BHP MPH 0-60 MPG IG
2.0 GTi-6 3d 96 1998 / 4 167 135 8.5 32 15
2.0 WRX 03 1994 / 4 221 144 5.7 30 20
I know this isn't 100% accurate but its not far wrong!!!!

I appreciate that this thread is old and tired... but I haven't seen it before.
I own a 2005 WRX (there I said it public)... it's a PPP with a Stoptech BBK and some suspension work. I do the 'ring fairly irregularly (circa 70 laps so far... since 2002) and currently run a 9:10 Bridge to Gantry. (I used to do 9:00 dead in my old Audi RS2 )
Anyways.. I was there yesterday and the locals with their trackspec Mk1 Golfs and the like just make you look like you are stopped. I can absolutely believe that lightweight, good handling, 2 wheel drive, good gear ratio'd, machine could have the measure of a WRX.. (and thats even before taking the experience of the driver into mind).
I'd love to compare the ratio of power at the wheels and weight of a standard WRX against that of the 306 GTi-6. I'd bet that the GTi-6 would be significantly better.

Unless of course you're a drag strip/red light boy racer type.
Civic Type-R is a quicker car than a WRX, FACT. the WRX may "feel" quicker however.

I quantify "fast" (which is a word that I never mentioned within my post BTW) as being a speed that is determined in real-world conditions, ie; roads which have corners and bends in them, and the odd car in front from time-to-time, which requires the overtake, and not just a straight-line drag-race along a dual carriageway.
So no, I`m not actually a drag strip/red light boy racer type as it happens.
And why is it a FACT that the Civic is a quicker car, just because it is from 0-100 ? As you`ve highlighted, the WRX is quicker from 0-60, so also could be said to be the quicker car.
Have you actually driven a Civic Type R, because I`ve not driven the Peugeot as you have, and, as such, do not feel qualified to say (as others have done on here because the "figures" suggest it) that the Pug is slower than the WRX.
As I mentioned before, in my previous post, I have owned both the WRX, and the CTR, and have also driven, quickly, the ST170, and, accordingly, felt qualified to offer my opinion in response to a previous post, which I did.
As you`ll notice, I never mentioned the Pug at all, at that point.
