None. Well according to Alan Jeffries and same from Star here in plymouth. It's the engine management that makes the diffference in power so if you have a Lagacy engine with WRX management it kicks out the same as a WRX. No diference. Both EJ20 boxer engines...
So I'm told..

The Legacy engines we see here from Japan have finger rockers not bucket type cam followers. The Legacy motor from Japan is nothing like the Impreza EJ20 - I can't speak for the Uk Legacy EJ20 because no one can remember the last time we saw one.
BUT if you are talking about Foreign Car spares in Alum Rock who sell imported engines it could well be a Jap Legacy.
Correct, otherwise Legacy 2 bolt coil packs Impreza one bolt coil pack.

What year is your WRX? The legacy engine will definately have a closed deck block and piston oil squirters, the early WRXs did up until MY95 too. Past that it will be open deck. So i'd say there could most definately be a difference, but if you had a MY96 with open deck block you will now have a closed deck block (if it's a legacy unit).... i'd take that exchange. Not sure about pistons, rods, cams etc tho.

Thanks for your apology Garry.
We have had lots of early imprezas in for various work that have been retro fitted with early legacy turbo engines with the customer not being aware.
Dave at API (thanks for your support) he is correct in what he says about the finger rockers also the legacy turbos all had closed deck blocks making them a strong bottom end but they don't rev aswell due to the lash rocker set up. However when sat in an impreza we have noticed little difference in power output if any from a normal early impreza engine. They are down in power when sat in a legacy this is probably due to the charge cooler set up.
