Thanks, I have located the keypad but the light on it does not flash nor the red led located on the top of the dashboard, so the keypad can not be used..
I think my problem is that the immobilizer won't let the engine turn over.
Do you think I can somehow bypass it so I can get the car to a garage at least?

So when pressing keys on the keypad you get no flashes on the keypad?
This may be a silly question but have you checked the fuses haven't blown? There is a list in the manual. Also might be worth checking voltage on battery? Although usually alarms go off when the battery is low. Could always try jump leading to another battery to see if that helps?

 

Checked the fuses and battery, though I sort of knew it can't be that as all the other lights, windows and radio, everything is perfect. I'm quite sure it is the immobilizer... But not sure how to fix it.

 

Hey there, I went and bought a new battery for the car as well, but still nothing. I'm running out of ideas now, as have had a few people looking at it as well and they were adamant it would be the battery that needs renewing. Sigma alarms are rare in Finland and no one seems to want to touch it apart from removing it alltogether and putting on a new system which will cost a small fortune

I know this tread is over a year old, however will the instructions provided by Sigma Sam work on a 2004? I have got a working radio key and a spare one that's not programmed.

Answered my own question! Sigma Sam you are a legend. Worked like a charm and I now have got 2 working remote fobs!

Does your keypad look like that? If it does, then you have Subaru fitted Sigma alarm system. That is exactly what mine looks like and Sigma Sam's instuctions worked perfectly. I had a spare key that didn't work and now I can remotely unlock the car with it. I also change my PIN (with his instructions), which was handy as the previous owner didn't tell my anything. I just need to get the transponder re-programmed to enable me to start the car.

I would be interested to know, as I need to get a blade changed on one of these and I want to know how they do it? The blade is molded into place.

Yeah that's the original one I've got the two new one's have two buttons checked numbers on back which all match but i have seen sites were you can get just the blade cut ill open one up and have a look after he has done and let you know

 

Plus subaru said they could change just the fob but they want stupid money to do it and reprogram it

 

How much were Subaru asking for? Also, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you get that spare key for on ebay?

 

I have two keys like the one above with the single button. However both unlock the car and turn on ignition but only one will start the car. The other it just keeps turning over ???

 

The key's transponder needs to match your car. You will need to get it re-programmed by a professional auto locksmith, as far as I'm aware you cannot program it yourself without specialist tools/equipment.

I am hopefully getting mine programmed on Wednesday for £65.00 by a local locksmith, however I will let you know how it goes.

Subaru wanted £390 for a complete key which if you have it laying around is ok

 

Yeah they are molded in good and proper i attacked one of the fobs with a dremil and got the key blade to sit in nice with a drop of glue plus the screw helps hold it in place (well sort of) but in all honesty it looks like sh×t and I don't think it's going to hold

For anyone who would like to know. You can get a new transponder key programmed and cut for around £65.00, as it requires specialist equipment that professionals will have. You will also need a working key before hand.

If you have lost all keys, the cost will be more like £180.00 (quoted by local locksmith).

Note: If you buy a key from eBay make sure you buy the correct key blade and transponder chip, it is common to get the wrong one.

Have second key for 03'STi but it doesn't work anymore, tried the battery so guessing it needs reprograming. So assume it'll just be the £65 you say?

 

Hi, please specify what is not working. The remote central locking or the transponder (engine won't start). If it is just the remote central locking, then you can just reprogram it yourself. If it doesn't start the car then it will cost you. The transponder doesn't need power to work.

Just Google 'auto locksmiths' in your area. Unless you're local to Surrey? Then you can try the guy that helped me.

 

I can drive to him. I'd go to someone that's trustworthy and can do the job.
