I am amazed everyones quotes are so high. I am 24, 7 years no claims £924 fully comp through A-plan.

Last year was £1300 TPFT through elephant.co.uk.

Car has CAt1 thats all, no tracker.

Thats limited to 12,000 miles a year with protected no claims.

Mods are Full exhaust with manifold, wheels and dump valve.

Only a 94 WRX but still, looks like I got a good deal really

But pretty sure not covered so will be calling to declare mods.

what i wonder is whether to declare the ECU chipping as no one would be able to tell? or is this bad idea?

You need to ring A plan in thatcham, they have a advert on scoobynet. speak to rob, he knows what he is talking about and knows what you mean when you list all of your mods, instead of someone saying "induction kit, whats that"??? they deal with different insurance comapny to some other A plan offices. I rang Swindon and was quoted £2500 rang thatcham and was quoted £1000. £250 less than Privilege, they also didn't want a tracker.

I pay £1600 on a My99 Turbo 2000, No mods declared with Tesco
Cat 1 Alar/Imm and Tracker. One cat removed, prodrive spoiler, bigger wheels and P1 splitter, but as the sale document said, all added at factory

I ended up going with A-Plan, they charged £669 fully comp with £500 excess, that's with all mods declared. I'm happy at that.

Unhappy

If i ran an insurance company the first thing i would do for any claim involving a "Performance Car" would be to have the ECU checked to see if it is modded would save a fortune on pay outs.

If they dont do this then there is a nice for some body to set up a firm to do this?

Fitted at the factory or not the car is not a standard MY99. If you have an accident the insurer would be well within their rights to refuse payment leaving you in the right royal ****. Is it worth it for a few pounds ?

I'm already giving them money for nothing.. which really annoys me. If it came down to it a court would stand on my side over a splitter and a spoiler thats the same size as the original

Prodrive spoiler and P1 splitter are not standard items on an my99. I'm sure your policy asks if the car has been modified from the factory standard and if so the answer is no. How will a court side with you and how are you already paying for nothing ?

Larger alloys and a cat removal again are modifications. Its entirely your choice as to how you conduct your affairs but why give your insurance company a free ticket if you have a bad accident and in the unfortunate event that you do they will wriggle out any way they can.

Fair enough, but I see giving someone £1600 a year just in case I have a crash as a real bitch
If I never crash which I hope to god I don't they make so much money off me.
