Project Firenza
Someone near me has one of these, and has been under a sheet for the last 5 - 7 years :-

I keep meaning to stop and ask if they want to sell it.

bloody hell......a very rare car indeed,HP Firenza, only 198 ever made, the only collectable post war vauxhall....... doubt its condition would be good, but as there are so few about interest should be high on the DSG anyways..... funny thing when they were new was they came with twin stromberg side draught carbs...... and regulary they fell off......

Apart from the even rarer Sportshatch, HS and HSR Chevette of course
, I still love the look of them, but yep, would be pretty hard to find a minter now, rotted like a pear and things like the glass headlight covers and wings were obsolete back in the 80's (I had a wing made up from a viva one, tricky job!) although the DSG had got the tooling to make new nosecones IIRC...

Naw mate, HSR is the rarest post war vauxhall just 40 odd made, then Sportshatch with 196 then the HP Firenza with 204 and I'd certainly include the HS as a 'collectable', figures are from the DSG Club, I'm not that much of an anorak to remember them
from what I've read I think they managed to get the HSR homologated under the same number as the HS hence the short run as it was just an evolution of the same with a few changes to wheels, panels, suspension... gonna have to get myself down to CC Rally Day next year for a bit of nostalga
Don't know if you are, or know anyone interested in a set of 5 original Avon safety wheels, with tyres?
Not the best of nick, been on a Griffon kit car for about 15 years, so tyres are shot anyway.
My dad's rebuilding the Griffon for road/track, so wants to move to a biger wheel.

Spoke to my dad, and apologies, but there are only 4 wheels/tyres.
The guy he bought it off never materialsed with the 5th.
They do have the correct wheel nuts as well.
Don't really know what these are worth, but he's looking for about £160.
PM me if your interested and I'll give you my dad's number so you can sort it out.

Interesting project and thread in general.
My uncle had a droop snoot Magnum it had '2.3 Aerodynamic Stage 3' down the side and was bloody quick...well I thought so. He wasn't into modding so I assumed it was a factory car, but looking around this thread there's no mention. I'll have to ask him.

Got the measurements of a Chevy LS1 motor (as used in the last generation of Camaros and Corvettes. The Vauxhall Monaro also uses a derivitive of the LS1. Bearing in mind, this is a 5.7 litre V8 but it's all aluminium.
Length: 25.5 inches
Height: 24 inches
Width (head to head): 20.5 inches
Measured the original slant four motor for comparison:
Length: 25.75 inches
Height: 24 inches
Width: (actually measured widest part of the head to crank centreline) 10 inches.
Made to measure or what?
Currently researching US sources for a complete LS1 and T56 gearbox combo's.

Simon
I've always loved the Chevette HS / HSR and have always hankered after a HP Firenza.
I saw one in the classifieds of Retro Car magazine recently @ £2,000
Was in the previous month's issue for a bit more, but looks like he's had timewasters.
The car looks pretty good, but I can't justify the outlay just now.......shame!

Nice
odd that the under bonnet is red in places, although I remember there was a red one kicking round in the 80's, AFAIK all the HF's were silver. Looked pretty genuine, got the grab rail on the dash, hope it came with the 4 x Cibie headlights, don't think they are available anymore...
