And you're on your second engine rebuild.
Mine did not 'Look' like it was going to go pop either but it did. All scoobs are different and there are so many factors to consider.

To immediately blame it on me was a tad unfair to say the least.

Just because your car is running ok does not mean that everyone elses will too.

No 3 big end is usually the first to let go because No3 cylinder lives under the turbocharger and consequently it runs hotter that the other cylinders. This makes it more susceptible to detonation which is an engine killer. That cylinder would also be the first to seize under adverse conditions.

It really is very unwise to run an engine like this without a Knocklink at least.

I did not do it myself. The guys building my engine sent it off and had it tested

OK, I'll make a helpful observation which may, OR MAY NOT apply to the originator of this thread.

It strikes me that a lot of people have modified what is basically a mass produced, bloody fast and almost unrivalled car in its class. No problems so far.

It also strikes me that some people have either a) done the job themselves b) done the job on the cheap or c) modded the engine and not considered any knock on consequences.

Performance modding your Scoob is not like adding an extra brick to that Lego racer you had as a kid.

I thank you, and look forward to the first person to bite.
