Other groups try to emulate us and it's made the scene a whole lot more interesting and exciting that just mulling around in a dark car park with our anoraks on talking about engines!
People can say whatever they like about the pink shirts but the plain fact of the matter is that we have an allegence and a common interest and have all put the time and effort in to try and make this grow.
Going to these meets and events is primarily about showing off in anycase ... so why not show off in style???
We can have you some pink ESC slippers and a pink ESC cardigan made up if you like John. <JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!>

With regard to Gangsters post, let's get a few things straight here!
In my post I mentioned the pink shirt ****-take - this was in reference to the unfortunate comments made in certain posts in the original thread in the General section, which was closed by the moderator. I've absolutley no problem with the shirts, or their colour and the idea of ESC identity and was a bit peeved by the adverse comments made by certain individuals in that thread. What is annoying is that those comments were a stupid by-product of the original argument of Spally's "incident"
My comments regarding the actual incident, I stand by. The Scoob, as much as I love it, is rapidly gaining a real image problem and this has done nothing to redress that! As Spally said, if the other protagonist had approached him in a reasonable fashion he would have ceased to waste the quid a litre liquid gold, however it doesn't alter the fact that it quickly became a nuisance to a lot of people around and was bound to provoke reaction from someone. I'm sure there must be some kind of "gentlemanly conduct" clause in the SIDC constitution somewhere? Perhaps Phil might like to comment on an official basis here? By the way Gangster, if you've got as much enthusiasm and love for motor sport and performance cars as I have when you're my age, you'll be doing bloody well mate! My birthday is in January by the way and I would love some pink slippers
JohnD
PS He also drowned out the Classic FM I was enjoying

Not sure what you want me to say John really
Storm in a tea cup at the entrance to a show which Spally apologised for even though from what I read it was 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.
No real need for it ever to be posted IMHO and was quite pleased to see it locked in General and will ask for this to be locked as I don't believe its necessary to have a great debate over such a silly incident
I must however introduce a rule that any interferance to future broadcasts of Classic FM will result in imediate castration [Watch Spally cross his legs now]
Perhaps we can close this on a light hearted note because we are all car fans here and want to keep it that way

PMSL John ... I'm glad you took my joking comments in the fashion they were intended.
See I disagree with the Scoobs beginning to get a bad image. I think that this bad image is being created by the owners who are getting all in a huff about more people being able to buy Subarus now and them not being as exclusive as they once were. To be fair they are only a £26k motor and with the rising wage levels I think it's great that more and more people can afford them. The more Scoobs there are the better in my opinion. I am firmly wedged in the age bracket of people that are getting blamed for giving subarus a bad name so am better able to comment than most. It is such a crime to be able to afford one of these cars (regardless of what model type) at age 18 upwards??? I don't think so ... the car is now an icon and long may it remain so.
But I think many will agree that all this bad image and 'chav motor' info is being generated by the older subaru owners who are disgusted that such a car should be available to anyone under the age of 26!
Whether people like it or not Subaru Impreza's are in the same iconic status brackett as Ford RS's ... people will always remember them and they will be popular for years to come. As the prices come down, which is a very good thing, more people will be able to experience ownership and own a little bit of motoring history.
Lets face it the car has awesome performance and can pretty much outrun any police car or even a helicopter ... so they are going to be one of the cars criminals look to for selecting a getaway car.
Best just accept the inevitable!

John, can i just point out that i wasnt at trax as part of SIDC/ESC. If i was and had acted in that way, i would have handed in my membership by now, and also issued an apology on SIDC.
Unfortunately i was wearing my ESC tshirt which has been mentioned, and therefore issued an apology on here.
As Phil has said, maybe this needs closing now, i have held my hands up and apologised, so dont really think there's any need for this to be continuting.
Thanks

Spally didn't go out to upset people, so why keep this going?
The modded Subaru scene is here to stay, whether people like it or not, so why critise it? it only gets people's backs up.
Come on, lets just forget all of this and let us enjoy our cars

I'm all in favour of killing it, but I felt there must have been some misenterpretation of my 1st post re- the "pink shirt" so felt I needed to make clear the scenario as I saw it. Obvoiusly, I have absolutley nothing against Spally, I was just saddened it was picked up by the Ford guys who took the oportunity to do a bit of slating against the ESC! I have the Subaru movement at heart (Ahhhhh!)
Gangster You may have a point (albeit small) about "older" owners against the young 'uns, but conversly there could be a lot of young 'uns with a uninformed attitude to us "more mature" citizens (miserable gits) Personally I have to be careful here as not only did I have various sporting saloons back in my youth (considered dogs by todays std.) but I have a son who has had RS's, Cosworth's and Subarus since before the age of 20!
This thread - RIP

PS - Can I change my mind and have the cardie instead?

i think every one has forgot that the E.S.C. upset the MR2 owners club at J.A.E if E.S.C is not careful it is going to become one of the most hated clubs around and the close association of the sidc will be brought down also i don't know what happened at trax but it did not sound like good press
i wonder how many people have thought of how we are regarded by other clubs
no disrespect there spally m8
hope it don't get to serious at inter club karting lol....

fair point Rhybeck...but i have pointed out on more than 1 occasion that i was not there as part of the ESC stand and therefore any unwanted press should not be aimed at the club, just me.
