Default Any news on next group buy???

This post seems to have turned into an 'infomation section' rather than a 'group buy' one.

My clutch will need replacing soon and after reading the good reports on the forum i have decided to go with the Excedy organic. May require fitting too.

I definatly want one of these clutches so come on people lets kick the group buy off.

David can you answer me one question, i own a 2001 classic and want to know if this clutch will fit as some parts on the car relate to the bug eye as this was the very last classic produced, info would be great help.

Dave, Thanks for your interest in APi,

This has been going on for a while now with clutches going out the door almost daily. The original requirement of 5 to get the deal is now out the window as a number of people just ring and don't actually add onto the list. We've probably sold 30 so far this time.

I will be closing it on January 31st, but it remains open for clutches ordered and delivered before then. No good ringing to order one for delivery in March.

This will fit your car fine - no worries on the cross over years.

Let me know what and when and we'll get you sorted.

Good Luck, David

Default Thanks for info david

Thanks for the info reguarding clutch compatability on my 01 classic.

Please can you provide extact fitting costs with VAT and any other costs,

I figure the clutch price will be around £293 after costs,

Is the fitting £200 all in or is this not including VAT.

Basically i want to know the exact cost for supply and fitting with everything accounted for,

Thanks, Dave M

I should budget for a flywheel, it is rare that the original is in a condition good enough to support a new clutch cost will be either a skim for the original at £50.00 + VAT [ £58.75 ]
or
A lightweight one which is usually most peoples choice, because of the improvement in performance it brings at £120.00+VAT [ £141.00 inc VAT ]

Let me know if we can help you.

Good Luck David APi

David am am 100% sure on the clutch and around 50% sure on the fitting.

You say the lightened flywheel is £141 including VAT but is there an additional charge to fit it? or is it simply done at the same time and cost as the clutch fitting i.e £235

Also what exactly does a skim involve and will the a skimed flywheel last long?

After these points are cleared up i will be in a position to make my final choice, thanks for your time and patience,

Dave M

Dave,

Of course, David will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe replacing the flywheel doesn't incur any additional fitting charge - you just pay for the replacement or skim.

Skiming basically takes the surface deposits and irregularities off the flywheel. If you don't have this done and just replace the clutch, it'll just judder and I believe a knackered flywheel increases the wear on your new clutch, too.

AFAIK A lighter flywheel reduces the reciprocating masses in the drivetrain- this translates to a keener response to the accelerator.

It's an excellent clutch and you're in good hands with API.

Could'nt have said it better, Thanks NS04.

There is obviously less 'meat' on a skimmed flywheel than a regular one. In our case we leave enough on the clutch face to tidy it up again should it ever be necessary 50,000 miles, or however far, down the road.

Clutch and lightened flywheel please.

I'll phone you at the end of the month as per our phone conversation earlier today.

Could you confirm the price inc delivery please? I wasnt sure whether to add vat to the deposit for the flywheel.

I get it to £459.90 + £50 deposit.

Cheers

Jeff

Hi David,

afraid not in a position to buy at the mo, was wondering how much the lightweight flywheel & fitting would be at normal (non group buy)rates?
Cheers, John

John,

The flywheel is £150.00 [ £30.00 dearer than GB rate ] Fitting is the same for regular or GB, as we cannot discount for GB, it still takes a man 4.5 hours, no matter how many we do, to do the job, so £200.00. Both plus VAT of course.

Thanks for your interest David APi

He always looks cold, if he worked harder he'd keep warm naturally - lazy sod

No worries for your clutch. It's with the engine build kit.

I have had a exedy clutch and lightened flywheel fitted along with some other work . The clutch operation is so smooth compared to oe clutch, and the oe clutch wasn't that bad to start with.

If you have a juddering or slipping clutch and want a clutch that can handle 400lbft of torque, I can recommend the exedy.
