Dislocated Shoulder
got results-
Inconclusive
therefore Diagnostic arthroscopy has been recommended.
Should hear from the hospital soon.
I want my arm back!
never had a general anasthetic, I hear they can be quite trippy when you are zonked out.
Will find out soon enough.

Its sorting whatever the scope finds thats the brick-****ting time!
Good luck anyway
Best of luck with it Chrome.
Mine feels reasonable now and has pretty good movement although it can get stiff and aches a bit particularly in cold weather. Got my surgery booked for April 3rd - bankart or SLAP depending on what they find. They say they're expecting to make it fairly good but it'll never be 100%. They're also going to investigate how my humeral head is now and whether that's going to need further work, fingers crossed it won't. I'm told I'll be in a sling for 6 weeks which will come off just in time for my final uni exams
Any ideas how long I'll be in hospital for? It's the general anaesthetic that scares me the most. Thankfully I've heard enough reassuring things about the surgeon to be confident he won't ***** it up. How much will it hurt afterwards? I had plans to go to NYC for a short break in late April but I guess that's a daft thing to do 3 weeks after surgery.

Chrome,
Arthroscopy is often a same day turnaround....
Scoobysters will most definitely be an open procedure hence a few days in hospital.
When I had my bankart, the guy in the next bed had a scope and was out the same day.
I also had a knee scoped a few years ago and got out that night.... not sure if they use less anaesthetic or what, but the procedure itself is obviously a lot less invasive hence quicker recovery.

Still waiting for my op too. 6 months is up on May 26th (which is the maximum waiting time) - not sure what happens after that. I did have a letter a few weeks back asking if I wanted to stay on the waiting list - er... yes!
chris- that sucks mate.. you're giving me the fear now!

without wanting to seem competitive; with all the faffing about from my GP and the local hospital (not the op' hospital which is a smaller one north of the city) by the time I actually have the op it will be almost 11months from the day of the accident!

Just had my operation on the 17th.
They removed a huge amount of scar tissue front and back, but thankfully no structural damage was found
I have a week off work (mainly sleeping and doing physio' exercises) and am abel to resume driving in a couple of weeks, and can resume heavy lifting/sport in 6months
here is a pic:
Currently on a regular (six hour) dose of Paracetamol and Tramadol..
Physio (gentle) is already going well.

Good news. That is pretty much what happened to me. The surgery was scheduled to repair any tissue / muscle damage, but what they ended up doing was removing large amounts of scar tissue. I hadn't realised how restricted the movement of my arm had become! I was sitting up in bed with my arm in a sling and the consultant came along and told me to remove the sling and get my arm moving. I've done about 6 weeks of physio and I have just started to play the odd few holes of golf. Think I pushed it a bit hard at the weekend though and now it bloody aches like hell
Not looking forward to the winter at this rate.
