in the wet
new tyres 100% grip
few 1000 miles 95% grip
with only 1 to 2mm above legal limit 50 to 60% grip
Sorry to say but that's sales talk.
The only tin gyou have to worrie about is aquaplaning.
As for the rest, grip will stay, until your tyre explode...

Sounds like they're all a bit slidey in the wet, especially once you get on the loud pedal. It doesn't bother me really, the balance of the car makes up for the lack of outright grip (I still have puny 205s on mine...). Apart from the occassionally "surprising" lift-off moments (usually provoked :-)), the Impreza seems well planted. Personally, I find it nicer to have a rear bias feel to the handling as I can't stand fwd. Much as I loved my old Quattro, it was virtually impossible to dial out the understeer without doing some extreme weight shifting which ain't a good idea on the Queens highways ;-).... With the Impreza, I get the impression that if you get into a high-speed opposite-lock situation, it's gonna bite you (unless you're the "Stig"), but the low speed stuff is fun.
At this time of year, anything with over 200bhp is a handfull. If you think we have problems, please spare a thought for the TVR drivers......

Never trust the advice of anyone who can't write.
