If their speedo was similar to mine, an indicated 157 would be around 146 (mine's about 7% off). However travelling at this speed, whether on a deserted motorway, private road or racetrack will immediately kill several small children, drive up house prices, increase global temperatures by 0.7 degrees C and increase unemployment by 5%. Not to mention killing thousands of africans, adding to the ilegal immigrant population of the UK, slaughtering many foxes and putting money in Bin Ladens pockets.

Have I left anything out?

you need to convert your speedo to MPH not KPH... then see if you touch 200

If you live in Germany it is safe to do this speed, why not in the UK?

Is it the weather in the UK that makes it unsafe, or the roads, or the fact that there are to many do-gooders who think speed is the main cause of accidents....

On a quiet motorway, in good conditions it is safe to do these speeds, IMO.

And, if you are an advanced driving cop it is also ok and the courts have recently backed this up.

I don't think it's safe to do 160 in a scooby for any length of time unless you like rebuilds.

Forgot to add, someone I know blew his engine at 190MPH on a motorway recently, now that is excessive speed! 993 with 520BHP.

Agree, but most top speed attemps would be for a few seconds, then brake like hell for the HGV ahead...

Warranty is good for re-builds too: Note to self, must try a top speed run in the next 10 months!

In his first post he says it was a private motorway??? Never seen one before - thats some land you got there!!
If it was a public road then irrespective of conditions you are an absolute chuffin d1ckhead of the highest order.
Its the "conditions" you havent scoped before you engaged on the "thrust 2 impression" were debris / diesel etc on the road, the chavvy kids dropping small stones off a bridge further up the road etc which at that speed would kill you (and hopefully only you) dead dead dead...
Of course there is the small matter that its illegal - and again if you were on a public motorway where speed limits apply you should have been banned and heavily fined - possibly jailed...
I've owned 2 scoobs over 3 years now and neither has ever gone over 110. My 02WRX which I have had now for 3 months hasnt been up to 100. A Nissan Micra could also do 100 indeed - but it wouldnt get there as quickly, be as much fun on country lanes or satisfy my passion for Imprezas that I've had for 10 years now...
Bragging 157 just makes you a total n0b IMO...

Oh get a fcking grip

If the road was empty, there's no one to hurt but himself.

I've seen over 150 in my old scoob on a deserted motorway, over 140 in my old Integra on another deserted motorway.

Hell, I had 130 out of a 205 Gti on the A9 a few years ago.

I've also passengered at 150 mph in a 993 on a two lane A road.

To name but a few.

All either late evening or very early morning.

The risk was mine, and no ones but mine (and the driver of the 993)

110 in the wrong circumstances is much more dangerous than 150 on an empty motorway.

If you are unaware of the circumstances, you are not placed to comment.

Left mine limted to 112 so I don't get tempted.
I bought it for accelleration, couldn't care less about top speed (not sure a 12 year old engine could cope anyway!).

Took a Cerbera out for a blat once - backed off at 110 - fantasic car, but sooooooooo much tram-lining!

Good point about tyre ratings - see recent thread of a Citreon blowing a tyre at a legal 145. How safe is that?!!

u said "be as much fun on country lanes"

what if a cow was in the middle of the road or just mud, can u see round corners cos i cant, but u say he is stupid

one thing to say to u is grow up

and one more thing ppl who say you need to learn to drive and not do top speed runs r even more dangerious than anyone else.

ps i had 162 out of mine proven on the tom tom nav
yes on a public road

Surely every scooby owner has took there car to the top limits on a wide open road with no other cars about - even if its only for a split second. Can't beleive all these people who say they have never been over a ton. Not a top speed junkie myself, I think you get a much better kick out of a quite country roads.

Cant believe that people but scoobys and never exceed 110 MPH

The debate is on a private drive way many scoobys go off the clock at 160 but what is the real speed

My road angel only goes to 145-8 on my runs in the night !!

Dreaming of course

The pc brigrade will now start on me so i will get my coat
