Oi, keep me out of this. I'm quietly watching proceedings from the wings, and keeping me nose out (for once)

If all else fails, I do have a foolproof method for selecting the appropriate venue...

So, nobody loves me! Why should I care?
I'm gonna join the WYIOCC and get on me bike.
In the wet.
...and cold
You might have to have a meal at each venue to allow me to catch up, but at least I'll be there before Chris (And he's going in the car )

Am i still allowed to be a member if i've sold my Scoob?

Al, as Chairman i think you should decide on which pub we use as our home.

Like you say, we could debate the matter forever and a day.

Paul,

It's always the same procedure, but I believe the WYIOC committee will eliminate the biddling cities.... I mean pubs.... one by one.

An announcement will be made to the watching media tomorrow night....

I'm just hoping it's not in Moscow, New York, Madrid or Paris....

As long as the next choice has an improved power to weight ratio..

Regardless, you were in the enviable position of having two great cars under the same roof..

I know Sticky, make you vomit doesn't it! It doesn't feel much like a Jane when you're caning the ***'* off it in a four wheel drift.

And as for Tarzan...............

My new car doesn't have a better power to weight ratio but it is OK and suits my driving style as well as having a good top speed compared to the WRX.

Welcome to the WYIOC, home of the on-line domestic dispute.

After Chris and Al's performance over the last week, the gauntlet has now been taken up by Paul and Steff. Let's hope they prove as amusing as their predecessors...

To break up this feuding, I'd like to say thanks to Chris, Sticky, Dave, Helen, Simon and Sally? (apologies if I've got this wrong) for a simply superb night.. great driving.. from one side of the county to the other to check out several pubs...

We checked out Millford Hall, The Darrington, The Sovereign, The Clothiers, The Woodman & finally the Foxglove..

We sampled beer in most.. checked out the atmosphere, checked the menu and most importantly checked the car park and nearby roads.. It was actually a great evening.. very enjoyable..

The results..

Milford Hall. - The organist was back. The atmosphere was still dead, the food stopped at 8 and the beer was expensive.... Great roads are not enough to rescue it..

The Darrington - TP style 2 for 1 with a small tight car park.. As we walked in, a Grandad reversed his car into a huge plastic flower container.. Busy & crowded..

Moving to Huddersfield..

The Sovereign - Great pub with great access and easy to find.. Right on the edge of the Strines etc driving area and BP station right outside.. good food and very welcoming.. 2 1/2 Beers were cheaper than 2 at Milford Hall and the food looked superb.. Car park was a little disconnected but it was at the top of our list..

The Clothiers and Woodman - No contest to 'The Sov..'

The Foxglove - Same 'chain' as The Sov.. but it doesn't have that chain feel.. Same food & beer quality & prices. Helen (resident Guinness sampler) said this was the best all evening.. Bigger than The Sov with 3 big open fires that are lit during the winter months.. Good car park overlooked by a simply stunning beer garden.. Sam (mein hostess) was very welcoming and would love to see us down there... great bar staff and great seating areas. charming with a great atmosphere.. Slightly further away (1 1/2 miles) from the The Sov so the roads are a couple of minutes away.. No kids play area but it does have a great conference facility that could be used if we needed..

So. After some time looking we feel that heading back to Huddersfield was favourite as this is where the club started it all at the Fenay bridge.. in the end, The Foxglove got the nod as it ticked every box.. It is a fantastic pub in a great location just a mile or so from some brilliant roads...

I will update the main venue thread and start another thread tomorrow giving the details of the Monthly meet that will be held there..

Many thanks for your patience during this time but I feel the wait was well worth it..

and isn't this even closer for Chris's pub crawls - now on hands and knees?

At least I know where this place is as apparently my mum & dad used to go there in the 50's & 60's (before my time though ) if they were having a celebration... I guess there's been a few changes since it was The Three Owls (AFAIR)?

Nice to read a solution to the venue "problem" - are we allowed to know whether it was a unanimous decision or a split jury?

This point did not go unnoticed. We were in fact under the impression that, had his driveway been a little more accomodating, Chris would have gone for a full-on 'bar conversion' in his garage, thrown up a trendy neon sign at the front reading 'HB's', and emptied B&Q of their outdoor seating special offers for his 'beer garden'. The dogs would have provided a 'living farm' style entertainment for the kids, the BBQ would have been brought out of retirement for the gastronomic side of things, and one or two of his more undesireable neighbours would have provided 'security'

Apple - 15 actually. Perks of the Chairmanship.. No, everyone was well chuffed with the the FG.. It definitely feels like home...

Andy - You're welcome mate. And that is really why the clubs such a good one; because any one member would have done the same thing without a thought.... great bunch of guys and gals..

Dave - Apologies for the lack of a flash, beep or wave.. As you exited that roundabout, I was full on charging behind.. Andy's late arm point to the next exit caused a fast right turn, some tyre squeal and a little 'panic' as a kerb loomed.. but we survived...

Anyone see that Orange Lambo over Emley Moor?

PS.. New Home thread starting soon... time for some Tea & Toast first..

Al - it belongs to Evo magazine. It's a Murcie, on a 54 plate...

And it frequently parks at The Sov... I'm sure they can be persuaded to bring it down to The Foxglove....

PS. Top choice on the venue. Not that I had anything to do with it....

When Dave popped across last Friday, we nipped to The FG as one suggestion. He & Helen had seen the sign previously, albeit subject to a severe Doppler Shift effect....

Pics in a mo.
