bought my spec'c' from iain and it was a pleasure doing business with him....

from buying the car, having it sva'd and collecting was all within the month.... lucky for me tho as the car had just come into the country. longer if he has to source a car first.... im sure the power will be everything you need. have just had mine RR'd with 7000 miles on it i now have 325 bhp & 348lb torque all for fitting a H&S centre and back box....

My car had left the factory and was on the boat in Japan within 10 days, and the voyage takes about 28-30. So, even if the car you want has to be shipped over, it really doesn't take that long.

If, however, it's a new model and needs a Model Report doing, that can be quite a different story...

I'm with Endsleigh, but from what I can make out they work closely with Norwich Union. My guess is that if they knew about the Type 25 they would also be aware of the Type 20

Why not visit David Hendry Cars. They sell new jap and uk spec cars. So you can compare. Even better its in malmesbury. Only about 5 miles away from you.

ChriSTi My insurance is with A-Plan for my T20. I have zero personal NCD (as I am coming out of a company scheme although I have no incidents for the last 8 yrs) and am 43 with (at the time of taking out the insurance !!) a clean license. It costs me £750 pa plus Tracker and Cat 1 Alarm (both installed on a T20).


ps Hi Alan C ... the T20 still going well ? I'm still waiting for my suspension ... grrr.

pps Alan .. saw your T20 in the gallery .. nice T20 stickers .. are they just by the indicators or have you put them on the fog light covers too ?

ppps Any other T20 owners 'out there' ?

I have 9 yrs NCB, 38 and pay £1200 bl##dy quid!

I have a T20 too with the usual T25 suspension and Miltek plus spec c turbo and fuel pump; induction kit (huge K&N cone!); powerstation remap and samco induction hoses. Loads of induction noise, but it does shift...

I had the induction kit from Iain plus samco hoses right back to the turbo (which aint cheap and a sod to fit) plus fitting and remap - £600 plus...

What's the hold up on the AST's?
My Spec C wing should arrive tomorrow.. so that'll be the car complete...

The T20 Graphics were from Iain, and they are on the front lenses too.

Keep in touch mate..

C2 - Sticky stuff from the WYIOC Events area. He's a pro graphics fitter in Castleford and has done a lot of the graphics you see on SNET. Just PM him..

Hi Alan ...

What's the hold up on the AST's?
When Powerstation came to fit them at my 1K Service they found that AST had sent one right and three left struts ... and mine was the last set they had, so they had to order some more.

Spoke to Iain today .. apart from mine, he's got a further three T25's sitting waiting for the AST's to arrive and be fitted. Apparently they should be in some time next week.

Good news for all concerned !!

they are indeed but I think they have less notches of adjustment than the "hard" inverted former AST's ... ?

Do they? I've just set mine to their softest setting and left them there; the car handles beautifully, so I can't find any reason to make the ride uncomfortable. Iain did advise setting them a few notches firmer, but I've tried that and I think we'll just have to agree to disagree. That's why I bought adjustable suspension in the first place.

I had 12 or so clicks on the last set but only 5 or so on these - unless i'm not turning the adjuster hard enough?!

There's something like 12 on the front and 14 on the back - if yours jam after 5 then there's a problem. It shouldn't require any more force than the old ones, and as they're easier to access I find they actually take less effort. I can detect the individual clicks more easily now too.

Now that it's run in, and I'm driving better with the 6 speed and extra power, my next step is to play with the settings.

Iain said that they're on 'Fast Road' and I do like it. But as I've not tried anything else yet, I'll hold final judgement..

As Andy says, this is really a personal choice and makes the AST's a good buy in order to give the car completely different handling characteristics that can be 'savoured ' over time..

Hi Dean,

The AST dampers in all forms are 12way adjustable but sometimes its differcult to feel the notches as you turn them. Basically a quarter turn will be one notch. Best thing to is turn the dampers to full soft then count the number of turns/clicks as you work back up to your prefered settings.

We usually set these to 6 on the front and 2 on the rear but everyone is different

AST's fitted and ant-roll bars uprated .... oh what a joy. Sooooo much better than the standard JDM suspension. It's a wonder my fillings haven't fallen out it was so bumpy before.

Have actually chosen to go down 2 clicks front and back from the Powerstation settings (Were 6 at front, 4 at back) so that its even more comfortable.

The car seems to handle even better now as I can 'feel' what the car is going to do as opposed to before when it was common to suddenly be caught off guard as it lurched off a 2p piece in the road.

AST's definitely get my thumbs up

I have mine on their softest setting, which was still a bit firm for the bumpy (and fast!) roads on the Isle of Man last week. I had a WR1 owner in the back who reckoned my car was more stiffly sprung than his but rolled significantly less; I think I'd happily have traded a little body roll for a bit more comfort over the last few days. For the slightly smoother roads near me, though, it strikes an excellent balance.

I've also backed off the fronts to 4 and the rears to 2 as some of the roads around here aren't 'boob' friendly.. Quote from the missus BTW I did try them backed right off (softer), but it didn't 'feel right'.. too spongy for me.. I'll try them wound right up and see what happens..

I'll turn them back up to mid way when I go for a run with the lads on the 18th

I also found that the 'click' isn't as pronounced on the rears making it harder to detect it. The fronts are easy by comparison and is probably down to the longer rod connecting the **** to the suspension housing on the rears....

I am impressed at the difference only a few notches makes though.... More playing to do yet..

Holy Thread Resurrection, Batman(!), but does anyone on here know how many of the Blob T20s were eventually produced (one of the posts on page one of this thread reckoned on 10 or so at the time) and how many are still around please?
