50-80 quid on a decent psu, 80k hrs running minimum guarentee (over 5 years continuous i believe), they do cost but are worth it.

As far as I understand it, the P4s are not true 64-bit, but can run a limited number of apps with 64-bit memory access. The AMD chips are true 64-bit, with 64-bit access to RAM and CPU. And pretty much the only thing that Intel is proven better than AMD at is video editing: everything else is too close to call, or a win by AMD.

Very true.
The only reason for going for Intel at the moment is brand loyalty.
They run hotter, use more power, are more expensive and are generally second best to the Athlon 64.
Hopefully they will eventually come back with a competitive product

The new P4's should be out in sept/oct time, these are 64 bit duel core, slightly hotter again but only slightly
