I like the later Evo's - 7 onwards and quite tempted to get one come replacement time. Will almost certainly have to buy a 2nd cheapo runaround - the 4500 mile service interval would p!ss me off too much otherwise.

Beat me to it, I was beginning to think it was a forum bug as about 4 separate members have done it in this thread alone.

As for the thread I like Evo's and Scoob's

oh, and the evos dont blow engines all the time, just eat clutches.

IMO,if the evo had a burble or thrum to the exhaust note, then the scooby would be history.

discounting the UK spec models, and sports done up like turbos.
they are within a gnat's chuff of each other that anyone but a pretty darn good track driver would be hard pushed to tell any sort of difference between any of them.
I guess people will say that the model they have at the moment is best, after all, who would happily put up a post "Changed to/from an Evo/Scooby and its the worst move I ever made, wasted my money and wished I never got up this morning"??

I chose an Impreza because I had already driven a car that was the size of a mondeo, weighed as much and had about as much soul, I fancied something smaller, lighter and possibly the underdog (but not by much)

what 1/4 times are you posting in what evo model?? (Please say 260, please)

Very quick machines....however they look HORRIBLE.

Same goes with the Subarus as well....bar from the classic shape which was subtle and just right.

I've had one - Evo VI GSR + 3 Impreza's (WRX, RB5 WR + STi V3 Type-R).

To be honest, I think the Evo is a better drivers car, not that I am Jenson Button The build quality is also better and the steering response and feel is simply amazing. It cost about the same to run as the Impreza's generally and the 4,500 / 6 month service is OPTIONAL - look at the service book on one.

Some parts can be expensive, like if the AYC packs up, but it's the same story with every car - M3 + VANOS for example.

I am thinking of getting another Evo VI or Honda Integra Type-R DC5. I'm leaning more toward the honda because they'll be cheaper to run and aren't as nickable. The Evo is very brutal looking and gets you lots of attention. I'm not sure I want that to be honest, especially with the recent spate of thefts of Evo's and Impreza's.

If you haven't driven or owned one, I suggest you do, you'll be pleasantly surprised and think 'wow, why didn't I get one before?'.

tell you a funny story

i like evos
but this is not my point

mate used to have a evo 6, now has a 8
anyway, it was parked outside his carwash one day and he heard loads of kids walking past, did the usual walk outside to keep an eye on them and heard them start shouting on about his car

"woagh look at the bodykit on that"
"its a scooby, class"
"woagh look at the bonnet"
"uhhh, its not a scooby its one of them wannabe things"

i was PMSL when he told me, poor lad was going nuts shouting at them
his yellow evo 8 was outside my wash today, i had the citreon zx in while mine is away for a rebuild

regular punter comes in for a carwash, runs a smoothed mk4 golf with wheels and subtle but tastefull mods, fair to say a "car bloke"
says to me

"you know what mate, i preferd your car when it was painted red and white"

lmfao, bloke thought i had painted it yellow, fitted white wheels and a carbon bonnet, all in one week

EVO's are cracking cars!!!

So good.... it took Subaru until they released the Spec C to be at the very worst level pegging, if not having the edge (BestMotoring anyone )

Awesome bits of kit...... you wouldnt believe how many times I have looked at them (in fact I was looking at them about 10 mins ago Sorry.... I do get bored of cars quite quickly )

Regards,
Shaun.

im thinking about getting a evo 7 after I finish with my WRX, as I wasnt to keen on the evo 8 and I think the evo 9, kind of looks a bit like the 7 at the front, and I cant afford either, so looks like I might settle for a evo 7.
I think the evo is one of those cars that you must own before you die, Ive had 2 scoobs and I just want to try something differant now.

Hi all... I'm new to this forum (I come from 'the Dark Side'!). I drive an Evo VI GSR and I have to admit it is butt ugly! But then, I didn't buy it for it's looks

I haven't driven a Scooby, but I have had a wee play with quite a few and they can be quick.......I still prefer my Evo, but everyone has their own thing, right? And by the way, if you could bottle the sound of a Scoob with a nice big exhaust as it purrs past, I'd buy it! My Evo sounds like a bear with it's ***** in a vice

Cheers,

Steven

I like Evos...i like Scoobies too. I used to like Evos for their rareness.
Used to think Scoobies were becoming too comon around my way and you would rarely see an Evo....until Mitsi did this three year free sevicing offer...and now there seem to be loads of new Evos around my way and with second hand prices of older Evos falling older Evos have become very affordable....and much more common.

Would i buy an Evo over a Scoob......?.......probably not....couldn't justify the extra costs for a not so rare car now......and would simply miss one of the great engine sounds in the world from my flat four.

Oh and as far as im concerned they are about the same as scoobs but with maybe slightly better turn in and a little more power.
PMSL! would that be the evo ,4,5,6,7,8 fq260,280,300,330,340,400 MR or not MR u tested?!

was that standard suspension or not, standard wheels or bigger? low profile tyres or standard?! i love the way u give ur opinion when really you dont have a clue(feel free to prove me wrong)

i love evos they look great.tested an evo 7 fq300 and evo6 both standard round bruntingshorpe in between a scooby wagon 2.5 and a 22b. i prefered the 22b handling and power.the fq300 had lots of lag and didnt like 6 speed box. the evo 6 was fantastic but prefere sonic blue scoobs.handling was identical brakes were better on evo 7fq300 then 22b.rides were all good, grip was all good

i think that people are put off buying evo's cause of the service intervals but to be honest, if u respect it, a service at 8000miles is fine.if you have to do it on a new one and for warranty reasons then make sure you get ur monies worth to justify service intervals. if you can afford a new one u can afford the servicing
