Why are people having problems getting their money back? I thought that if you paid using Paypal it was a dead cert that you could get it back as long as you reported it within the time limits (cannot remember if that was 30 or 90 days)

If anybody wants the info I have e-mail me :
harveysmith1@btopenworld.com

Like I said, do not expect any help from e-bay. Several complaints to Warrington CID should see some action however but the chances of getting goods or refunds is starting to look increasingly doubtful.

Guys like everyhing else in life, do not let a few bad apples spoil what should be a good shopping experience.(chavs ruining the image of scoobs comes to mind)
I sell quite a bit on ebay myself, i have a feedback of 900+ all positive and i , like many others treat it as a business and it annoys me when i see people getting ripped off. Ebay and paypal do need to sort some things out to protect the buyer, and the seller, as the whole concept is based on trust. Also, i actually want people to have a good experience when they use Ebay.
All you can do is use the tools available of you have a bad experience, ie the feedback option, and just use common sense when making a deal!

Hi,

Just to give you all an update, due to a change in landline number (which wasn't updated on ebay) the account was put on hold until details have been faxed through. This has been done, but will be 7-10 days until its re-opened!
Because of this we can't retrieve any details at all about sales or get customer details to send out items.
Can I ask all those who are waiting on items to please email:
ebay@officiallypimped.co.uk

Please state the item number, your ebay username and method of payment.

Intercoolers are in stock and can be collected if so wished, GC8 kits will be available from Monday 13th.

For those of you who feel you have been 'scammed,' I can only apologise about the lack of communication on our part, but we will be fully up to date with all orders within a very short time.

Regards,

O.P

Thanks for the warning, hope you pay a visit to him with some mates, in a non-violent way of course! If he's in the warrington area and he's into cars there's a good chance he may attend the monday night cruise, - blockbuster video car park warrington!

Default Weird

thats really weird that a dude who has been so reliable on ebay has suddenly gone off the rails to being a scammer - maybe someone stole his credentials?

I notice the original sellers id is no longer registered.

If you want his address, enter 'oppjapparts' on Google, do a UK search, there will be 1 result, it is a Toyota forum, click on it, then scroll down to the person who's thread says: oppjapparts on Ebay DO NOT USE. Read his thread and the name and address of the fraudster is there, together with a letter this guy wrote to him. Happy reading!

It probably isnt a scam as such, what seems to be happening a lot on Ebay now is this :

A foreign manufacturer or supplier will get a UK seller with good feedback to sell stuff on their behalf - the seller will advertise them on Ebay, 'sell' them, and only when they get enough sold items to fill a complete pallet will the supplier send them over from China or wherever they are - by surface shipping, which takes weeks.

The problems occur because apart from the first order, which the seller normally gets up front ( or a box of samples ), they dont have the items in their posession when they list them on Ebay. Most buyers on Ebay expect the item within a week or so, which, if the seller has it in front of him, isnt a problem, but the sellers are taking short cuts to try and make money wihout having to pay any up front costs, and get caught out when it takes them 2 months to get the goods from the supplier.

The seller then gets a load of bad feedback, and often their account cancelled on Ebay, at which point the supplier moves on to the next mug - this is why a seller who previously had good feedback suddenly appears like hes scamming people, when in fact he's just guilty of being a muppet with no business sense.

HOW DO I KNOW ? same happened to me - was approached by a supplier in France who makes carbon parts for bikes - point blank refused to just let me buy pallet loads at a time in adavnce, and list them when I had them here so I could get them sent out quickly !

They said the only way they would supply me was one pallet at a time after I had already sold them on Ebay and paid them - which means they are getting payment in full before even making the parts - also means if they decide to do a runner with the money, I would lose twice as I'd lose the money I paid them, AND have to refund all the Ebay buyers as well.

So beware ! Any cheap parts you see on Ebay, contact the seller first and check they actually have them in stock before buying.

Actually, with this guy it usually is a scam. That's not to say he doesn't ever supply the goods he sells, he does occasionally. But with us (me and my husband) he went for the big one and took us for 17 grand! And that's just what he does to his close friends. With strangers he does things like promises them up to the last minute that their kids christmas present is on it's way then lets them explain to their kid on christmas morning that their presents been delayed (and after months of excuses he stops answering the phone) or he sells someone with a long standing business 20 off road buggies then let's the poor bloke go bankrupt while he disappears with the cash.

And everyone that's been conned by him says he seemed like such a genuine guy and he didn't look like he had it in him to con anyone. If you ever speak to him it's safe to assume that everything he says is a lie then you won't be far off the mark.

To anyone persuing a refund, please report him to the police so that hopefully he won't keep getting away with it. He's known by a variety of names but he does often use his real one, Barry Hayward and he's 30 years old but looks younger, his girlfriend/wife is called Colleen Burleigh/Hayward. She's a lot younger, 19 now I think, and either in on all his scams or very very stupid and/or ignorant. He always rents so that he can move on quickly but I think she's put her foot down since having the baby and won't move. So he will probably stick around for a while and he's no tough guy either, in fact he's a right wimp. If anyone wants to know more just ask.

Cheers and Good Luck

i bid on a genuine v5 rear spoiler a month or so ago on e-bay. the seller was local so i arranged a viewing but never did a deal as item went for £500.00.

a week later i got several 'genuine' e bay messages for a second chance offer for my bid of 350.00 i thought great!!!

after a couple of days he said could only post the item and his address was in london?!?

good job i viewed the item in birmingham or would have got royally fingered.

e-bay were not interested (w**kers)

Last address I had for Officially Pimped was:
R. Calitri,
69, Elmsett Close,
Great Sankey,
Warrington,
WA5 3RX.
If enough people press the local CID, then it MIGHT get a result. Alternatively if you verify the address you could have a group convoy.

Ken (Ross) How far did you get with it? I know you had the same address which was correct at the time.

The above is the address we went to back in Feb/March but his real name is Barry Heyward (Raymond Calitri is the bad guy in Gone in 60 Seconds) he said he'd changed it by deed poll to Raymond Calitri but not sure if that was true.

Took the Guy to the small claims court, which I won. As of Monday the time to appeal has passed.

He phoned on monday, guess cause he received the paper work, same as I did. Claiming to have paid the money in.

Next stage is to get the bailiffs in to seize possessions.

But I'm in Bradford this weekend, so might just have a run past his house to check he's there.

I have bought a fair bit of stuff off e-bay and 2 scumbags have ripped me off. some guy said he was breaking an STi and i agreed to have a Blitz exhaust off him. To everyone saying that if you pay by paypal you will get your money back, this is not the case in my experience, - it is probably one of the easiest ways for pikey bar-stewards to scam people. iirc you cannot report that you have not received an item until 14 days have passed and paypal then only try to reclaim the money from the person's paypal account, - if there is nothing in the account (i.e. if it was purely set up to scam people and the scum have then transferred the money out), then you won't get anything. There is more than enough time for anyone to have it away with your hard-earned in this way. imho the money should be held by paypal until both parties know the transaction is genuine (i.e the seller will know the money is there, and then the buyer will need to verify that they have received the item before the funds are released). The way it is at the moment it is far too easy to be ripped off.

Paypal are not that great in getting your money back, but your credit card company normally is. If you fund you Paypal balance by charging to your credit card, then you can do a chargeback through your credit card company.

I think that is meant to be the best way to claim your money back - not sure though....
