Knowing Pete is a complete moron and only trying to wind people up is fair enough. But I think Pete should seriously consider being a little more careful, as someone or some company who have an income from remapping cars might decide to take exception. Some people reading this thread are not SN regulars, they do not know who or what pslewis is, and they may just beleive everything they read.

If they believe ('i' before 'e' except after 'c') everything they read on ScoobyNet, they deserve everything they get! Come on, the point about Pete is he's giving us all a good laugh, and anyone who takes him seriously - newbie or not - is a fool for doing so.

Would you accept the word of a total stranger that you'd only just met? Come on!

Caveat emptor!

eh?....well you either follow their directions or not.

If you have no intention of using them (trust them?) then you wouldn't stop.

The quote was "would you acccept the word....."

Not so, I have stopped many times, to ask directions. I then decided whether to "take their word" for it, or ask somebody else. Based on how sure they where themselves, and does it look like they are on a wind up!

Good grief ...... companies getting fearful for their business just because some member of a BBS has posted up a few questions about re-mapping????

Do me a favour!!!

I am asking genuine questions that EVERYONE should be asking ........ as has been said above, if you believe ANYONE you don't know, without researching further, then you leave yourself open to abuse.

There's a lot of good advice and knowledge on here, but everything should be tested and questioned.

There's also a lot of cobblers talked, as you would expect ..... and that's potentially FAR more dangerous than me questioning certain myths and beliefs.

I STILL belive that 'tweaking' your ECU to gain more power is going to make your car more unreliable than a standard spec. car ......... if you are happy with that trade-off then thats fine - but please, don't come on here and say how the Boxer Engine is made by Cadbury's when it blows up due to someone pissing about with it!

As I assume you neither knew the first person or any subsequent person you asked, yet I'm sure at some point you took their advice and followed their directions - did you therefore not act on the advice from a total stranger?!?!?.....question answered me thinks......you argumentitive old whatsit you

Having someone pissing around with your car and tweaking your ecu doesn´t make your car more unreliable. I have a 01 WRX which has been modified almost from day one. It has now done almost 100.000 km without any problems with EcuTek and about 300 hp. I´ve had it remapped twice, both times on the road mapping with me driving while the mapper is in the passenger seat doing his magic. I tell you, you really feel the difference as he hits the buttons on the computer.

Oh and I have a fuc.link, and it works giving me usefull information and the discolights actually responds to when the mapper change say the ignition advance or the fuelling in the map.

Oh oh. And I never unplug the camsensor when I do my oilchanges.

But funny you are.

I'm sorry everyone I couldn't let it lie..!

As much as it pains me to say it seems PSL (aka Worthers Originals) may have a point after all..!
