There's no overrun, or flow to the vehicles when you lift or adjust the steering slightly. I cant put my finger on it exactly but the cars feel more planted and less like real cars.
I did enjoy my Forza session last night though

I did say that would happen
I dont think its crap as a game, but I just expected more thats all. I was getting bored of GT4, and decided that Forza would be GT4 style but with damage and better AI.

I'm getting into Forza, much in the same way I got into GT1/2/3.
I agree that it is possible to win a few races and purchase a car and modifiy it quite highly and then go *** kicking, for example, after a few races I was able to purchase an Impreza 2.5RS and drop in a Spec C engine and all the shiny bits, and ended up with a 666bhp / 604ft/lb monster.
Could I drive it properly, ah, there's the rub, without some practice, no I could not.
I feel that even though you can spec up a very rapid car, but like the real world, without being able to drive the thing properly, what's the point.
One of the annoyances of GT for me was the abilty to get the pikes peak Escudo and then dominate more or less any race, as you could bounce off walls, take very bad lines into corners, and still win the race.
I'm no master player, that's for sure, but when playing the Heavyweight challenge, I did have to retry a few of the stages, before getting it nailed. Having an RS6 highly modified and adjusting a few of the settings did not allow me to dominate, so more practice was needed.
Does GT4 have an online mode? I know it was touted at one point then a statement was issued that it wasn't going to have one. Just curious as one of the things I like about Forza (and PGR2 and Burnout3) are the online capabilities, allowing you to kick a friends **** (or in my case, have my **** kicked ) or kick the **** of a stranger or three

It doesnt have online, but I find online gaming frustrating tbh.
I bought TRD2 and a Live subscription last year, but after a few weeks of people cheating and generally ramming you off the circuit I gave up. You always end up racing some 10 year old American and its crap.
None of my mates are into gaming really, so not much point playing online for me.
Maybe Forza would be better with some more instructions. How did you change the engine in the Impreza? And what is the Drivatar all about

Drivatar's like b-spec in gt4, but this time you can train him, he drives like you would drive or thats the theory anyway.
As for the engine swaps, last night i put a rx7 engine into a mazda mx5 ! does seem to go quite well .....
You go to do engine mods and its the one right at the end, sometimes there is a selection of engines to choose from, if it cant be done there will be a x through it.
And remember you can only swap engines from your cars manufacturer.
So you cant put a fezza engine into the mini etc

Drivatar, is, in GT4 parlance the B-Spec "thing". Essentially you complete a few lessons with it, different cars at different tracks, and it monitors how you take different corners, straights, things like that, it then attempts to mirror this behaviour and improve upon it. You then enter it into a race and it races automatically for you, in effect emulating your driving. There is a fee to be paid for using it, so you can't really use it to 'cheat' and amass a great fortune. More info on the chap can be found here
As for engine swaps. Some marques allow it, some do not, and some marques allow it only for certain cars. For example, Subaru.
If you purchase a 2.5 RS, then you can perfom an engine swap (It's in the "engine" section of Buy Parts, extreme right, a picture of an engine). You can install the EJ22t from the 22B, the EJ25t from the USDM STi and the EJ20t from the JDM Spec C. You can then add other modifications to that engine, such as turbo upgrades. Alas you cannot add any aero parts, so adjustable downforce is not possible
However, if you purchase the STi or the 22B, you cannot perform an engine swap, but aero modifications are available.

And the 22B is pretty tough to beat around the ring, even some of the S1 category cars struggle to keep with it!
Also it is pretty dominant on the hill-climb sections as well.

The game is getting better now
There is still no structure to it - you race and lose, then spend some of the vast amount of money you seem to win on huge engine mods, enter the race again and breeze it.
The AI is bloody great though, had some brilliant battles in my 450bhp Integra.

Dream Weaver, how can you say no structure?, alot of races are class specific say A1 for example, you could buy a 360 fezza which will be a1 category straight away, or you can tune the nuts out of your Honda crx to make it a1 category but which one is best? sometimes its better to keep the car in a lower class to be more competitive in that class, sometimes its better to move up.
You also have bhp limits on some races, weight limits, model specific, 4wd, rwd etc.
And yes sometimes the races allow anything but there is sooooooooo much to choose from, quite alot of freedom so how can you say there is no structure?
Do you want it so you can only use 1 particular car for each race? dont think so.
Glad your liking it now though, honestly the more i play it the more i like it and thats coming from someone who's been playing games for ages.

Well I prefer the GT structure of starting off with a crappy car then having to work really hard to earn the money to update it. Even GT4 has lost that part a bit.
I dont like winning an Evo 8 on my second race, then being able to mod it to 500bhp on my 4th race.

But the thing is you dont have to use that evo 8 with 500 bhp on the fourth race, its up to you, surely its better to have the choice?
By the way, ive just started turning off the driving aids as in abs etc, and getting used to that makes it even better.
In the gt series if you wanted to upgrade quick you could just keep doing the same race over and over, but you didnt have to, you could try a new harder race etc.
Its all about choice, the more freedom means better games .
