if you buy that ross then i will personally slap you for being a d1ck.

nah just kidding fella.

its a nasty mod that does in crease power SLIGHTLY but!!!!!! and heres the but, it fools your car into thinking its cold (not warmed up) basically making the car over fuel (as if the choke was on) ending up giving you bore wash (worn out bores i believe) and a hole in a piston or two

up to you m8. DONT DO IT!

yeh lee chip as been done by Scott Taylor there should be 2 blank banks on my ecu if not theres a plug that comes with it
the one that big scoobs put up is the same
once the chips in just cut j1 and it used the new chip instead of the one on ecu

the main thing i wont is it mapped to run on 97ron

I got mine of Scott Taylor through Ebay, he mapped it using mapping details off a wagon set up on a rolling road, its all set for my mods plus 95ron, boost up from a standard .5bar to just touching 1 bar.

I bought a second hand ECU and fitted the chip to it, that way I have the original and the modded one can be sold seperate when I get rid of the car.

from wot ive read the ecu in mine Only likes boost up to 15
the later ecus can take 16 .. with these chips well if i v read right

ok also the 4578573756 one i found < the boost is differnt on this 15
the one big scoobie found is a version 18 < the boost is 16 on this

i dont know im confused ...

8004558210 4578573756

think our cars john will only boost to 1.1 bar cos of the boost solonoid BUT all you do is swap it for a newer model. simple. 1.4 bar is possible then (so ive been told)

depends what you want from your car m8!

me i want to be doing late 12seconds before next year and i WILL. thats why ive decided an a apexi. its a full ecu change/replacement not just a bolt on chip. nothing wrong with scoobyecu. if one comes up cheap as, before ive spunked on a apexi then that will have do, see how it goes

if your not planning on tuning your car then a low cost scoobyecu will be spot on. if not just keep banging in the optimax. seriously though i have done 140 in mine on 95 fuel before and its still ok (proberbly wont start in the morning now ).

Wink Scooby ECU

John,

Info I received with chip from Scott Taylor -

The Scooby ECU once fitted controls all ECU functions.

Boost raised to 16.11psi (yours is 12.7 psi standard)

Boost control improved, as well as 16.11psi the boost is brought in earlier.

Fuel / ignition timing adjusted, to take into account boost & 97ron fuel.

Fuel cut retained, limit raised to 18psi.

Should raise bhp to plus 40bhp depending on your mod's.

I can't see that you need a specific ECU, just one that will suit your year so an identical one to your's would be fine.

Hope all this helps.

Lee DT.

Im not really Giong all the way like you stu. but i am making mods to it as you know my main reason for this would be the little increase + the ron

if i stick it in my car without getting a new ecu can i easy get it back out
after cutting this j1 resistor [wire wot ever it is ] read that people reconnect them ok

wot happend with your lee when you fitted it didnt it **** up
and you had to take it out then back in agian

I had to de'solder the area where the chip fitted, and solder a 28 pin chip socket in to take the chip, I did'nt have the correct soldering iron first time and the heat damaged the tracks on the printed board.
That's why I bought the second ECU, I re'soldered a new socket into the new ECU and fitted the chip to that, it's run fine since.

Do'nt solder the chip directly to the board, if you damage the board whilst soldering the chip directly to it you will not get the chip back out, that's why you need to fit a socket, you can buy them from Maplins for pennies.

It's is fiddly work especially de'soldering the holes without burning the board. holes are about 1.5mm apart.

Exclamation

No you can't reset your ECU to run on lower octane fuel, your ECU'S mapping is preset to run on a certain type of octane ie 100 ron for imports & 95-97 ron for UK cars. It will however learn to run on a higher octane fuel after a few tank fulls.

Or you could disconnect your battery for a few hours and reset you ECU that way.

Never heard of the wastegate chatter thing neither, I would'nt want to try it, I'll leave it to you.

ECU reseting is dead simple and well worth it, i reset my ecu and i noticed the difference almost instantly. It takes 1000`s of cycles for your ecu to relearn knock points ect, all you have to do is join two wires together under the drivers dash and thats it. I think its a green plug and black plug these are taped right up almost under the speedo. 2 min job
