seeya tomorrow night
lmfao, no its £115 each ! Anyway im having some Yokahomas spec 2's fitted at £105 each on the car, they are nice and sticky and have nice tread pattern too.im blagging working from home so i can have em fitted tomorrow . Sure come and watch , i need to blag some track rims so i can put some second hand slicks/rain tyres on. been looking at some, seems they quite cheap to buy but i think i need some 8 inch rims, dunno about teh offset maybe i should put a post in the Tyre forum lol
Hi mate, if you're after a set of cheap rims for track use theres a couple of sets at RASP, I know one set is defo scoob fitment, as for buying tyres, I'd buy the best you can afford, and not bother about how they look too much either. I wish I could come to this track day, it sounds like a good one with a few local enthusiasts to get some knowledge off too.
BTW i would be interested in knowing how you got into your track racing, ive had a look at the web pages but although they have an application form they dont list the costs of entering for the season. Im sure this would be a good read

Maybe something for the future! I have heard that tyres are generally available at the Trackside second hand fitted for about £30 a rim? I hear what you say about buying the best but i would like a taster before i commited!
Cheers
Steve
I did use to race a 1.6 cavalier (then it got rolled) and a 1.3 Mk2 golf in a cheap full tarmac rallycroos club, there for everyone to just tip up, rag their cars, smash into a few people then go home at the end of the day, then return next month and do the same.

Initially I did a 15 minute session at Trax a couple of years ago and car handled pants, tyres were crap, on the road it was OK but you're not getting anywhere near the limits on the road.
I only started doing track days last year. Went to Castle Coombe last year and did 4x20 minute sessions the day before Japfest and got passed be a prelude, wasn't happy, went and checked it out, was simply modded and set up for track use and a local driver too, then slippery slope began.
entered round 4 last year with a bog standard type R and did OK
this year did 3 of the 4 rounds, finished 10th overall (club class)
next year I want to finish definitely in the top 10 each meet, but its a tough call and everyone will have upped their game not to mention newcomers.
Cost for Time Attack was this year approx £195+VAT per round, Donny was good as it was spread over 2 days and so much more track time.
If you're interested give rob barnes an email on the time attack website, hurry up though, entry closes tomorrow i think.
MR2 challenge looks like fun too, speak to Scott at RASP he's entering next year.

Nice one Dill. since you missed a or some rounds out did that affect your overall position or was number 10 based on your wins and attendance only?
I cant enter anything this year, car is no where near suitable for that although im sure it would be great experience.
Good luck with next season too

That was 10th overall, scoring points in the 2 out of 3 rounds i did enter, hence next year i want a bit of a power hike but more interested in keeping it reliable. Obviously i have an excuse each time, but at Donny the fueling wasn't right so I was loosing power down the straights. Missed Silverstone, Knockhill was tricky cos it was wet for the shootout, Brands is just a nutty 1st corner, especially on tyres that have only had 1/2 a lap to warm up
Before you start you have to decide what you want, as soon as you start messing around with suspension (above ARB's, DL's, springs and geometry) you will compromise the car as a daily driver.
My advise if you're interested in track days is do a couple, get some tuition, this is the single thing that will improve your lap times the most for the monsy spent.
Then go from there.

Hi everyone,
I'm not going down to the meets in the evenings from now on as there seems to be very little interest from most people (except Steve
)
Dont think that I have seen my **** about it because I havent, like most of you I have a limited amount of spare time so with that in mind I'm going to spend it else where.
I'll still be posting on here so speek to you soon,
Cheers,
Lee.

Get it booked Lee, a few are going from the GY area, don't think it costs that much either if you book it via Scott at RASP.
I wish I could make it but I think I' busy for about 3 weeks solid over that period
